I sent my Xbox One in because of the disc drive failure.. As most of you know it is a very common problem with the first batch of consoles. I did the Advanced Exchange Program they call it. For those that don't know they send you a console first and then you send them yours back. They place a hold on your credit card for $400 plus tax until the decide on the warranty.. Well they told me my warranty is refused because of the tamper proof sticker on the back.. It was lifted on one corner but was never removed.. I called immediately and talked to someone about this.. They were able to look at pictures of the console from the tech center and told me it didn't look like it should be a problem at all. The console was never opened or modified, just the sticker was lifted on one edge.. Well she sent a request to see if they would reconsider.. They came back and very rudely said they will not be reconsidering and I will be charged the $400..
Well here's the kicker... I talked to two employees from Xbox support team and have emails from they saying I would be able to get my console back if they refuse the warranty.. However after many attempts now they still refuse to send back my console and will not honor the warranty.. I have no idea what to do.. I mean you can go to any store in the USA and buy a brand new Xbox One with new controller and in most cases a game for less then half of what they are charging me for just a console with none of that...
I even offered them to send back the new console and they can keep the console I sent in for warranty as long as they refund me the $400.. I just can't afford the price and nor should I have to pay that much for something that cost half anywhere else.. Not to mention they would be out nothing.. I have been a loyal Xbox customer since the original Xbox and they are not interested in working with me at all..
If anyone has any advice or has been threw a similar situation I would really appreciate the help... If not let this be a warning to anyone that wants to use the Advanced Exchange Program... It honestly feels like a scam to me.. They tell me one thing and then do another.. I will continue to contact customer service about this and continue to fight for what I believe is right... If you tell someone something you should honor that plain and simple..
