I used play hot shots golf and yes, it sometimes frustrated me, but mostly it was fun, challenging and comical. Powerstar golf is another story altogether. First, I don't like shooter games, so the choices are pretty slim right now. But even knowing that, I'm not sure I can recommend this game.

Pros:
1. It's cheap
2. You might feel like killing someone, but you don't have to in order to advance
3. I got nuthin'

Cons:
1. The starting female character made me want to push her into that lava pit that my ball goes into EVERY SINGLE TIME
2. It takes forever to open up new characters
3. The store is really just ... hard to explain...you just buy a bundle and have no idea what's in it, and really not much idea what most of it does.
4. There's no rhyme or reason for where your ball goes. "Perfect shot" apparently means bunker.
5. I don't putt well. But you'd swear I had my eyes closed and was wearing mittens when I try.
6. The camera controls are not helpful at all when trying to set up a shot.
7. Shot prediction is so bad that you have to play the same round a half dozen times so you can finally figure out what you should really do, which is opposite of what it predicts that yoy should do.

I'll stop. It's probably just me.
I borderline hate this game, but I tend to forget that during the passing days between gameplay. Then it all comes rushing back.
With the technology available to Xbox one.....why have we gone so far backward?

ttyl...I have to go hit a ball into a rock

I haven't played the game but my cousin wants the game. Is it worth it? I'm just curious how this game is. Is the game play a lot better than the other golf games. I've played some games in the past but I never tried golf.

In my opinion the game play is better than other golf games and it is worth a shot even though it is pretty complicated.

I have a review up for the game on my blog and I have to say I'm not sure I have witness any of the issues you have had.

1. The character barely ever speak, so what exactly annoys you so much? Why not play as a different character?
2. I disagree. You only need to defeat them once one-on-one to unlock them.
3. What story? It's a golf game lol. The loot is random so that it shadows a loot grab style game. The idea is that it keeps you playing and I actually like it.
4. Perfect shot means you hit the accuracy bar perfect, but you still need to first aim the shot. Just because you use the bar perfect doesn't mean you aimed properly. I'f you aim a shot at the bunker and hit it perfect, then guess what...you're perfectly headed to the bunker.
5. I've had no major issues with the putting. Once you understand how to read the green it's actually easy to control. I actually made a put from 54 feet out (my current longest put)
6. You simply zoom in and aim your shot, then hit "A" to go back to your character.
7. I admit the shot prediction is not great, but I actually don't use that caddie so not an issue for me. I did notice the main issue is that it does not account for power reduction.

I hate to be blunt, but I think your frustration is impeding you from learning the skill need to play the game. I have been playing heavily since launch even though I basically own every other launch game. I've played with friends and they picked it up midway through their first time playing. Maybe you're just not into arcade style gold games.

Haha nice thread title. The only experience I have with golf is mini golf and mini golf flash based games. I am not a gold pro at all, but do enjoy a well made golf game. I guess it will give me a break from my super violent games.

I remember playing an online game from way back, Panya was the title. I guess it's the only game that I've played golf in my life. I personally don't like the sport in real life, well it is boring for me.

I like the game. It takes a while to get to grips with the mechanics of the game though.

Some tips:

-Balance a characters stats using the equipment. Equipping a putter with absurd power will affect that characters power in all situations, not just putting.

-The different character setups are saved individually, so they are essentially just customization classes with unique perks. The caddies should be used in a similar fashion.

-Don't waste early earnings on the elite or extreme unlocks. It is better to have a variety of equipment for the purpose of balancing out your initial character's weaknesses early on in the game.
