I've a huge fan of the RE series but I haven't been a fan recently. I didn't really enjoy RE5 and I'm undecided whether I want to try RE6 or not. I've heard a lot of mixed feedback about the game too. I think I might eventually pick it up when the price drops though. Is there anyone here that played it? Like it/hate it? Would someone who prefers the old games enjoy it?

I thought RE5 was terrible and haven't bothered to play RE6. Firecylinder posted a pretty funny review of RE6. I loved the old Resident Evil games, but I think that they really lost their direction with the last few titles.

That's basically my thoughts too :P I have heard from some other people that during one campaign they brought the 'old' zombies back and it was a little freaky, but I don't think that's enough. I'll be sure to read that review soon :P I've seen some other reviews that were pretty hilarious too, mocking some of the ridiculous scenes in RE6. I also hate the QTE (quick time events) they had in RE4-5, and I believe they brought that back in RE6.

My impression from the demo is that RE 6 took a few steps forward, but many more back. I thoroughly enjoyed RE 4 and thought RE 5 was decent, albeit misguided, but in many ways, RE 6 is a mess. The camera isn't very functional, which would be fine in an RE game, but it is a nuisance for gameplay in this case given that two of the campaigns are basically third person shooters. There has been a patch, but since I've only played the demo, I can only comment on the broken original camera. The gameplay is alright for Leon's campaign, as it feels like a combination of the new and old style RE games, but the menus are a mess and it feels far too linear. As for the campaigns for Jake and Chris, as I said earlier, they feel like third-person shooters, and bad ones at that. I'd pick this game up for $10 or less just for Leon and Ada's campaigns, but the others are just painfully bad. As a long-time RE fan, I have to call it as I see it; the negativity surrounding RE 6 is definitely justified.

I bought it launch day, was disappointed. It isn't survival horror anymore, it's action. And even though there were 4 campaigns, they all seems short and shallow. The story just didn't come off as well as I'd hoped it would. I heard they were rebooting RE, not sure if it's true but lets hope.
