I just saw advertisements for used XBOX 360s for $70 usd and now the slim ONE is coming out at $299 usd. What blows my mind is that Scorpio will be out next year and what do you think will happen to the prices of the older models? Will they continue to go down as more people jump to Scorpio? I assume that Ebay will have a lot of older ONEs being sold around this time next year.

I don't think the price will drop much below $299. There will still be a market for the Ones. Plus I won't be buying the Sciorpio. The Xbox One that I have has a least another year or so before I will consider getting a new one.

As @Midnite say's, people will still be buying the Xbox ONE when the Scorpio comes out, just as they continued to buy the Xbox 360 when the ONE came out, so the prices won't drop a great deal anytime soon I don't think.

Microsoft's Xbox as struggled to compete recently with the Playstation though, so I can see Microsoft looking at another price drop nearer the launch of the Scorpio to maybe boost sales and as a bit of publicity, but as we know, that won't happen for a while yet.

I hope they do keep going down because I actually love the console. I traded mine in a while ago and have been in the market for a new one ever since. I do like a lot of Microsoft's exclusive titles; however, I wouldn't be so quick as to bury the console just yet. They are still coming out with games and there is a very strong fanfare for it still. As long as it is still making money they will keep churning out products for it.

As less and less titles are being released for the Xbox 360, and Microsoft deciding to shut don some servers, I think that is going to be the case with the Xbox ONE eventually as well. That won't be for some time yet, as the Scorpio is nowhere a release, but when it does hit the shelves I think that Microsoft ill ant people to concentrate on that rather than the Xbox ONE and if that means stunting the sale of their own previous model then I think that's what they will do.

The used XBox Ones will definitely drop in price but I doubt that they will drop the price of the new consoles much more then that. What they might do is offer more games with the new console.

Well what happens to one is likely to happen to the other. History tend to repeat itself in these ways, and I agree with you here. Once we hear from the Scorpio you can all but say goodbye to the XBox One, and I think the speed of it has to do with the current market, and it might have been a lot slower a couple of years ago. We shall see, though.

We have to consider the fact not everybody will be able to buy the Scorpio, probably because it's going to be unaffordable for many people or God knows why, but I do not really know what Microsoft are planning for these consoles, I do not really understand how the whole thing is going to be like, but I really expect Xbox ONE versions to lower their sales andtherefore, their prices.

Time moves on, and especially in the case of technology, that's at a rapid pace. What is classed as cutting edge technology now, in 6 months time is out of date and people have moved on to the next big thing.

With the price of the consoles these days though, I do think that the likes of Sony and Microsoft need to continue the support of the older consoles for a while after the new ones get released, just to help the public make that transition.

@pwarbi sometimes they do not help players too much with those prices, I really had tostruggle and work hard to buy my console some months ago, now they will release a new one and well, RIP moneyz.

The cost of the consoles are an issue that I think needs to be looked at in the future, and it's all very well technology becoming more and more advanced, and the consoles becoming more impressive, if people can't afford to buy them then what's the point?

I do understand that the console manufacturers have to make a profit, but at the same time if they are pricing out of the market the gamers and leaving the rich, then eventually the scene is going to start to die as people find other hobbies to take it's place.

They might keep the two consoles on the market and have one as an entry level and the other as a high end console. We haven't seen this in the past but nothing says that they can't do this.

You're right in saying that there is nothing to stop Microsoft from doing that, but would they really want to keep making two consoles when really they would only be making money from one? The last manufacturer that supported two consoles, one as an entry system and one as the more advanced was maybe Sega with the Mastersystem and the Megadrive, and I'm not sure that was much of a success either.

Nice idea, but highly unlikely I would have thought.

@SirJoe I've been thinking about everything regarding the new consoles and the new features and I personally think that a PS4 or an average Xbox ONE will be good for anybody because you will need one hell of a TV to take advantage of every single feature the new consoles are going to come out with, for example the 4K system and whatnot. It really is the same thing whether you buy a new one or the normal ones, you still have to spend a lot of cash to play properly.

@Casiox the 4k is a way of reeling the people in. The great majority of people that will buy it, probably will never use this feature but it will make the console sell.

@SirJoe I know that, but as we all should know, 4K is not way too far from 1080p and well, it definitely looks a little bit better, but it's not a major thing, indeed.

@Casiox the difference isn't as small as all that. The main problem is if you really want to take advantage of 4k, you need a 4k TV, and those are still expensive. Here is a side by side comparison so that you can see the difference.

It's like any new technology that brings an improvement once you use it, it's difficult to go back.

@SirJoe I will sound odd, but the image on the right was edited, it looks way too blurry and you know it. That obviously is a fake comparison, you gotta see it yourself, for real, they will always want to make you see that 4K looks way better.

Here are is another image, it's one thing seeing it by itself it's a whole other story seeing it side by side.

The main reason there is this difference is because of this.

@SirJoe That one makes more sense. The other one you had uploaded was really fake to be honest. Seems like it's just going to be a screen size change, nothing too special whatsoever.
