How did you like the latest Silent Hill installment, Downpour?
I have to say I really enjoyed playing it. It felt really like the old Silent Hill games. I loved the atmosphere, the morbid reality of the town, and I played in nonstop.
The puzzles were clever, and I think they did a really great job overall. Personally, I think Downpour should be considered an example for future horror games in the new generations.
Any opinions?

I enjoyed it too - I liked how they kept elements of the original classic (well it's a classic for a reason, right?) but enhanced other elements to make a better all-round game. I thought the voice acting was much better and the side quests are interesting, but the combat sections felt a bit wooden. However, personally, the exploration/puzzle-solving is more my reason for playing so I tolerate the combat as a necessary component. For the eighth game in the series I think they've done well to make it feel revitalised.

I completely agree. I also think the combat mechanics felt a little... weird. It was just more of the same thing, even though you had countless weapons to choose from, from rocks to chairs to fire axes!
I know what you mean by keeping classic elements from the previous games. I particularly enjoyed the radios and the walkie-talkie, as well as the fixed camera angles we would often find in the smaller places, like small rooms, corridors and closets.
I just hope we can get more of the same :)

Maybe I ought to give this game a try. I enjoy the classic SH games, and this one seems like a neo classic.
