While this latest title doesn’t take any huge risks, I would argue that’s a good thing. Skate has always been one of those rare games where you can just aimlessly play with no goals or objectives.

Tight, refined skateboarding; potentially robust online features; mellow Port Carverton vibe.

Skate 3 is by no means a disappointing addition to the series, but those who sunk their cash into last year’s Skate 2 really don’t have much of a reason to take the plunge here.

EA's latest skater caters to newcomers and experienced boarders alike, and features a robust system for creating and sharing content.

Without much positive innovation to give it momentum, it's becoming increasingly difficult to resist the temptation to bail out.

I'd recommend this game to anyone who hasn't yet experienced the world of Skate, for it is an excellent display of the elements of skating that I personally enjoy, but also those that generally make skateboarding so interesting to begin with. From the design, to the Flick-it system of playing the game, and its witty blend of humor within the story-line, I rate Skate 3 at a 4.7 (which, in my vote in the poll above, had to round up to a five).
