When Lamb says this in Bioshock 2, she is actually referring to Ayn Rand's novel "Anthem". To eliminate the self is to not view oneself as an individual, but part of the society at large. Much like Ayn Rand's philosophy as a whole, it's something that I view as good in theory, but not in practice. While I want to live in a world where everybody has compassion for others, there is still value in being your own person to me.
Much like Andrew Ryan, Lamb is an ideological symbol, and that is something that I hope remains a staple in the Bioshock series; these villains often make one question whether or not they are just, and they're so much more than just boogeymen.
