I got a bunch of chicks. I got a bunch of...guys I think. I got a bunch of...other random things. We have BlazBlue!
BlazBlue is a franchise of games that illustrate illustrious Anime like art and mix together the fighting button mash games of the past. The mechanics of the game are simple, you have a character and a list of moves. The more complex, the more awesome the move. Some fighters will have long swords. Some fighters will turn into Alex Mack like jelly things and toss about the level. Some characters float around with an umbrella.
Yea. You're in the world of BlazBlue! There's a loose story that plays through out the characters that you can chose. What it is? I have no idea, I wasn't able to fully understand what was happening. All I know is that there are a lot of people who use fighting to deal with their issues. Most of all, you start to notice that the stories aren't necessarily cannon with each other. In one story you might kill a few important story characters. Later, there they are just there alive and well.
BlazBlue has a fun multiplayer component. The issue is that the BlazBlue community is small and spread out amongst multiple experiences. The people that you play are probably going to be better than you. Like really a lot better than you.
The game itself follows mechanics that ring of my child hood in fighting games and for that there's a serious tone of nostalgia. There are also set pieces that are beautiful and able to speak as the fights continue.
BlazBlue will occupy you for about 5 hours and unfortunately has no replay value past the story elements. The multiplayer community will eventually not exist and may be gone as of this writing, but what I can tell you is that if you have a friend over, a rousing fight or two is up your ally and worth the small price you pay at GameStop now. However, this game will fall into the dust and though the series may go on, Calamity Trigger will always remain the same.
A 2.5 out of 5.
Why a 2.5 and not a 5
Its beautiful
Its fun, but not lasting
The mechanics are simple though still hold onto a complex formula in fighting
The multiplayer community is gone and only has Gosu players
The story is weird, hey they tried.
Its aged, but only because there's more BlazBlue's out there.
