My buddy let me borrow this game so I played through it once on normal and then again on rediculously kick you in the balls hard and let me say you're in for a treat.
Ghostbusters picks up where the movies left off. The team is going through some expansion and they are picking you up. You start off with some iconic fights and things turn from somewhat easy to very difficult quickly. Lets get down to business!
Story - The story in this is so much fun that you're going to get a kick and a laugh out of it. Using the original writers (actors) of the movies, this story has a nice mix of comedy, seriousness and shout outs to the fans everywhere. People who are a fan of this franchise will not want. Now, if this is your first experience with Ghost Busters, there's a slight problem where they do a lot of references to their movies and cartoons. This might leave you in the dark on some references, but I assure you they are all funny.
Graphics/Sound - Graphically this game does a decent enough job. For the studio and time put into the game as well as the age you could expect things to be a bit drab. Honestly, the slime is green, the photons are bright and the environment is awesome. There's a couple of easter eggs in each level that will make you search out for certain things. This is where sound play and graphics does an awesome job.
Mechanics - Mechanically, the game is sound. Where you want to shoot, you're shooting. Upgrading puts a lot more power and emphasis on your favorite weapons. The healing system is kind of weird. If you or one of your partners go down you go and touch them and they come back up. You know what? Whatever, we'll take it. Now, in the hard difficulty there are some parts of the game that stop being challenging and are just cruel. So much so I want to call it a mechanically unsound flaw in one specific level or bad level design. The point is that 90% of the time it works every time.
Over all thoughts - This is a lot of fun. Its just that its missing something... Co-op within the missions. There's an online play that's probably not very popular anymore, but this game should have been built for couch co-op or some sort of online play. I would happily play through this campaign four or five times if I could have my buddy with me because it would be a ton of fun to do with your friends.
If you are a fan of this series, you need to play it and you're going to enjoy it. There are a lot of things happening in the game, there's a lot of fun levels, there are a bit of tedious pains in the ass as well, but what can you do? This is the definition of a good B type game and a brilliant loving tribute to the movies. A 3.5 out of 5.
