Xbox One Star Wars 1313 Trademark Abandoned by Disney

Disney has abandoned the trademark for Star Wars 1313, suggesting that the project will never be released.

A cursory glance at the website of the United States Patent and Trademark Office reveals the trademark wasn't renewed on December 23, 2013. While it could be revived at some point in the future if Disney sees fit, in all likelihood this may be curtains for the highly-anticipated game. On the plus side, at least EA is working on a new entry in the Battlefront series, though the ongoing troubles with Battlefield 4 may have caused some delays.

Well that's disappointing, but I can't say I'm surprised. Once Disney acquired the rights I figured most ongoing LucasArts projects would be cancelled. The brief demo we saw looked great, but rumor has it that all we saw was a very small vertical slice of a concept and engine; rumor is the actual development of a proper game had not yet begun.

Not surprising. I've seen all the hype and commotion over this game since it was first announced and planned for release, and while it definitely seems like a cool concept I don't really think that this would have been as amazing as it has been made out to be. The hype is certainly justified, but I don't believe that it would accurately measure up to the game itself. I guess we will never know.

Ehhh... it was already looking downhill already anyway. So that's that. Another potential Star Wars game has been cancelled. Well, all of us have to look towards the new Battlefront then, the new Star Wars game in development right now.

Well, there goes the potential good Star Wars game. As thedoodseven said, Battlefront's the game we'll be looking onto for now. But man, was hoping 1313 would be developed. Aww well.

Being a pretty huge Star Wars fan this made me sad.

I'm glad Battlefront 3 is coming out and all, but I can never get enough Star Wars games :{

I think it's unfortunate but I believe we all pretty much saw this one coming. The minute Disney shutdown LucasArts, I felt like Star Wars 1313 was going away. And then when I heard that they were giving the license to EA, I though maybe just maybe it was going to happen. But yeah, it's done and unless EA decides to pick it up we just have to deal with it.

Yup, we gotta deal with it. That's how it's going to be. 1313... going to be put away somewhere in the limbo of games that got cancelled. Or just abandoned. Well, that's that.

Yeah, I saw a post recently about a 10 year contract that EA has for star wars. So sad that EA has it just hope they don't disappoint us.
