Xbox 360 State of Decay Review

So, if you watch The Walking Dead you will have a feel for this game. State of Decay is brought to you by Microsoft Studios, the people behind the Minecraft Xbox Edition, Gears of War Series, Alan Wake Series, and the legendary Halo Series.In this game you have to maintain proper living conditions at your "home" or base camp, while looting the post apocalyptic houses for food, materials for building, ammo, weapons, etc. All the time you are fighting zombies. It is a free roam like in GTA or Minecraft. However it is more like GTA in the fact that you can be assigned missions. This is a really good game and I highly recommend it.

Is there a story line to it or is it just purely based on survival? I'm amazed I haven't heard anything about this game at all, guess it's just overshadowed by The Last of Us.
I think if it were an incredibly polished survival game I would be more interested in it than if it were just another zombie game.

It is a complete survival game. You start out with a stick to defend yourself and have to loot to gather weapons and ammo, then build defenses, etc. it is in the Xbox Live marketplace under Arcade. It cost 1600 Microsoft Points ($20 USD). Best $20 I ever spent in the arcade.

This is the video that sold me on State of Decay. Now before you say "the graphics suck, I'm not buying that!" Let me point out a few games with great graphics that really bombed, such as Medal of Honor: Warfighter, Walking Dead: Survival Instincts. And here are a few games with bad graphics that really took off, and they all had Microsoft in the team, Minecraft, Gears of War, Halo, Alan Wake. You can't judge a game's gameplay based on the graphics.

It seems like it would be fun to play, is there any multiplayer? I'm interested and I showed my husband, he seems interested so we may go ahead and get it this weekend.
It kinda looks like a mix between Left 4 dead and Farcry, in a way. I'm a big fan of zombie games so thanks for the info!

No problem. Sadly, there is no multiplayer. And I think you described it best when you said a mix between Left 4 Dead and Farcry, but I would take it a step further and add Dead Island into the mix to give you a more accurate picture of what kind of game this is.

I was watching the videos being posted yesterday on this, and I'm going to wait until a PC version is released. It looks like a great game, but I'm afraid I would rather play this on the PC than the Xbox in order to get my money's worth.

Looks like a really interesting game with a variety of things you can do. You mentioned it was open world, and similar to the Walking Dead. I'm really thinking about buying this game since I love both of those options! The game itself is really the same as the game by Telltale games, except the game is not story-driven. Interested what this game will offer to me. Thanks for the share!
