As is standard EA Sports fare, the next installment of the NHL franchise will feature tons of game play tweaks and new modes. The first one to really stand out to me was how they reconfigured the fighting system.
If you send out a goon to deliver a huge body check to a "star player", their teammates will come after you and instigate a fight. I found that pretty interesting, but what holds my attention is how the fights happen now. No longer does the whistle blow and everyone clears the ice for a first-person 1v1 scrap. Now, the camera will move straight from the play to the fight occurring (which now happens in 3rd person), and players around the fight can interact with each other.
I find this a significant improvement towards achieving the ultimate simulation experience. Previously, the implementation of fighting to me felt like a cheesy mini-game with not much tying in with reality nor the game. Now I think it feels a lot more like what would happen in a real situation. What are your thoughts?
