With the arrival of Smartglass features in upcoming X1 games like PvZ Garden Warfare and Fable Legends, what are your thoughts on the Smartglass Integration? Is it awesome? Unnecessary? Been seeing a lot of it lately, like Garden Warfare's Boss Mode.

actually it works quite well...
bf4 has a companion mode which works on smartglass gives u a live mini map... and it is only accessible thru smartglass and you have to be in game.(not commander mode that is separate)

i actually really like how they redid smartglass for xb1... i had allot of fear because of how sensitive the 360 app was.. they really did well and from the start with the app. i see no real worry/issue with intigration with other games like pvz and such. its microsoft and on its system so its usually stable.

now if its an app or 3rd part you have to take that into account. my commander mode on ipad2 has had issues with logging in to origin servers... but the stuff that is handled by microsoft just works.

the only thing id really like the ssmart glass to do is be able to start the xb1... allot of times i am in bed just wanting to watch netflix and such... id love the ability to pull out the phone and turn it on.. because once it on and im in netflix/amazon mode i use my cell as my controller and to turn it off.

if you can play a mode on the phone/ipad while away with a connection it is fun.. you can level up and not be in front of a tv.. yes i have done it with the commander app.. felt odd but i was waiting on a friend and had connection and walla.. also been at a bar just chilling and well killed some time.
i was actually surprised when people asked about it..mostly guys who wanted to see how it worked but still its unique.

Seems to depend on how much the game uses it. Dead Rising 3 for example has an awesome companion app in Smartglass. As does Madden 25 with the Coachglass.

Otherwise to me it's like having a mouse and keyboard for Internet Explorer.

I think it's still just outside the 'novelty' area. It does serve the functions I want it to (though not perfect...yet?) - and that's to keep the controller up and out of my kids hands when watching movies or listening to music.

Dr3 has a companion mode? Didn't know that. How come I didn't know that? Wow, that's pretty cool to know some X1 games got companion apps too.

I only really use SG to type messages as its easier to "say" something than type it with the controller.

Yep. When you launch the game, look at it in the Smartglass app. If there is a companion app, it will say so, and then you can launch it. The DR3 companion app is very slick! Jaime calls you through it, and you can launch airstrikes from it. That and more.

Ryse also has a companion app. And Madden 25 has a whole coaching companion too.

Microsoft really got this right IMO.

Wow. So they really want to integrate the Smartglass into gaming, so right at the start, they're going to have gamers use it already. Sweet.

Wow. Awesome! Well, if I ever get a chance to buy a Smartglass, I'll consider it since it can be used for the games too. Awesome indeed. I was hoping it'd use the iPad but hehe, I know Apple and Microsoft are competitors, so maybe I'll just buy a cheap device.

There is a Smartglass app for iOS. You should be able to find it in iTunes. :)
