Dark Souls is a game about exploration and sometimes running like mad away from exploring the wrong parts. The bad part is there isn't a lot of direction in which way is right and which way is wrong. I'm going to tell you that there is an area at the beginning of the game that will lead down a hill and into a town that you should not be. Its a scary place, a Ruins. Within those ruins across two bridges and navigating through water is something called a Fire Keepers soul.
Basically when used, these things make your estus flasks stronger. You usually would not be able to get to this soul until a bit later in the game. However, you don't have to actually engage an enemy to get to it. You just have to avoid them. The same can be said for getting the Dragon Kite Shield and a sword that's chilling next to an undead dragon.
I think I'll keep posting information that I'm finding helpful here for those who get into this game so they have some cool things to look up in the future.
