Invincibility frames, or I-frames, refer to the periods of invulnerability Ryu has during certain animations, including, but not limited to: certain attacks, such as the Izuna Drop, Ultimate Technique, Ninpo, Reverse Wind, and Obliteration Technique. Some enemies have relentless attacks that seem impossible to dodge, and some of these can drain Ryu's health in seconds. The key is to utilize the I-frames to avoid these attacks, and in some cases, get an attack in as well. An example is Stage 1 on Mentor: the rocket spammers can be a royal pain, so reverse wind often to dodge. When you're fighting a group of them up close, try to de-limb them and finish them with a nicely-timed Obliteration Technique to avoid the rockets. Remember to experiment; certain I-frame moves are better than others in certain situations.

You will absolutely have to master I-frames to make it through Mentor or Master Ninja, so good luck, and I hope my advice helps.

^Thanks for the advice! I own this game but I really haven't been able to progress too far because it's pretty damn difficult. Hopefully these I-frames are able to fix that.

Your advice does help, BitesizeCrayons. Thanks! I think I was being a little lazy with this one, but seeing you say that I-frames have to be mastered has rejuvenated my motivation. :)

Good advice. Invincibility frames are extremely important in action games and fighting games. Super/hyper armor frames are really important too! So it's good that you shared this advice for those that don't know about them or how to properly utilize them.

If I motivated just one person to give the game another try, I feel accomplished. :)
Determination is a virtue with this game; it's brutal, but so rewarding when you learn the ropes.
