Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Case Zero

These two games are free for the month. They are pretty much zombie games, but a bit more unique. You are basically stuck in a theme park and a mall, and you have the ability to create and combine many different items in the game. You can either make this game humorous and create hilarious weapons, or go the generic route and just maul down the zombies. Pretty good game if you ask me, and hey, it's free!

That is pretty cool.
I already had Dead Rising 2: Off the Record and like it a lot, so this is a way to play the original Dead Rising 2.

Dead Rising games are great, so good to see they are giving these two away with their current giveaway service. Though I kinda wish they had given out Case West instead, since that one costs $10 and Case Zero costs $5. Also because Case West is better than Case Zero, since you have both Frank and Chuck cooperating even in single-player.

If you're getting both, and playing them for the first time, make sure you play Case Zero first, and be thorough about it. Scratch cards you unlock transfer to Dead Rising 2, and you also get to transfer up to 5 character levels, and $25,000. Happy gaming and surviving!

That is really cool to include more for subscribers. Nice gesture. I am sure if you like that type of game you will be doubly thrilled. I hope they put a freebie out that I will like.

That is a pretty good deal, especially for those looking to get into the Dead Rising series. I have 2 and really enjoyed it, but I never actually did play Case Zero. So I guess since I have Gold, now is the time to take the chance to finally play the game for the first time. I'm sure I'll enjoy it since I'm a big fan of the Dead Rising series.

Similar to my experience with the AC series, I played the first game, enjoyed it, but didn't find it compelling enough for me to absolutely have to play the sequel. Since it's free, I have another opportunity to get into the series, and perhaps I'll be interested in DR 3 next gen. I find it rather generous of them to throw Case Zero in as well.

I'm really impressed with Microsoft's decision to include DR2: Case Zero. It's important to the storyline and moreso, it really helps people who are new to the Dead Rising franchise understand the gameplay and time mechanics in a smaller and more condense way. Big props to Microsoft for throwing that in there as well. Unfortunately, I own both games already, so here's to hoping that the next few months will have some games that I don't already own.

Dead Rising 2 is one of the main reasons I even got an Xbox 360. The cathartic pleasure and whacky atmosphere actually managed to make the dead (heh, I made a pun) genre of Zombie games fun again. It was basically the Saint's Row of Zombie games. That they've made it free is a good sign. Good time to be a Gold subscriber. Did have a few bug-bears like absolutely wonky AI, a really weird central timing mechanic that punished you severely for any slacking off on your part and that weird issue where it was only playable on HDTVs for a while, though.

Never played Case Zero though. Worth the space on my hard drive? I guess I may as well try it for free, considering the verbal full body bear-hug I just gave its predecessor.

Case Zero got me loving DeadRising so I was happy to have it and played through it. At the time it was like 10 bucks or something and I played it through an entire weekend. I probably played through it twice, once screwing everything up and the second time was beauty. I loved that little game, definitely worth grabbing and trying.

Not the best or most groundbreaking game ever but definitely fun in co-op. The single player is not bad, but I think that the game really shines in co-op mode when you can play it with a friend. Definitely worth your time if you can get it for free from this.

Well, in the case of AC, the second game was head and shoulders a much better game than the original, so much so it makes the first game look like a Tech Demo. Give AC2 a shot (hopefully you grabbed it it when it was free a month ago), as it and its sequel Brotherhood, remains the best of the series so far. Every game since has tried to top it, though Black Flag just might.

This is really good but i wish they did this for PS3 where they released actually good games, well assassins creed 3 got released but thats the only good game i have seen on the market to be honest.

Yes! So pumped to play these (I downloaded them the day they were available but haven't had a chance to really try either of them yet). I really like Microsoft's promotional thing going on right now. Good move overall. Also very glad I didn't buy Dead Rising 2 already. I was about to and then heard on Major Nelson's blog that it would be free on Xbox Live. Whew.

I downloaded and played both games. They were not that bad games to play. I really like how you can basically use anything as a weapon, it keeps the game interesting. I remember using a water gun to shoot at a zombie, it hardly did any damage. The storylines got me hooked, so I finished the game for sure. I would recommend for anyone who hasn't played them.

We're getting Magic (the card game) and Rainbow 6 Vegas this time around. I was hoping they'd be getting better and better but I guess not. I only say this because the audience that likes and plays Magic has most likely already bought this game when it was released. I feel like Microsoft dropped the ball with this one. Rainbow 6 Vegas is fine though I suppose.

I'm not quite complaining but the Magic pick is a little odd. It just seems wiser to release games that are easier to get into (ie: AC:2, DR:2, Crackdown).
