In my thread about Uprising's announcement, I geeked hard over the Firing Range remake, but how does the DLC as a whole stand up? Greatly! Magma is a fun map with an interesting layout; the lava hazard is a bit gimmicky, but the map as a whole is good. There are plenty of open lines of sight, but also plenty of cover that segways into other parts of the map well. Encore is a map with good flow as well; it is relatively basic in design, but works well. It is a very open map in some ways, but there are CQC areas, and like most Black Ops 2 maps, it suits many different playstyles. Vertigo reminds me somewhat of Highrise in MW 2 in that it's on a tall building and there are a lot of points of interest both inside and out. Again, this map will suit multiple playstyles, and has a good deal of verticality to mix things up. Studio, AKA Firing Range, needs no introduction. If you liked this map in the first Black Ops, you will like it here, and I have to add that they made it aesthetically awesome. The only downside I can think of to the inclusion of this amazing map is that they won't likely remake it again for a future CoD game.

And on to the feature presentation: Mob of the Dead. Wow, this map is a duzy, and the most pleasant surprise for me when I dug through the new content, and I'm glad my expectations weren't so high, because I was all the more stunned. Keeping with the theme of giving my opinions rather than just giving a lengthy description of what's in store, I just want to say that as a longtime Zombies player, this map is very, very well-conceived. There are plenty of new and familiar gameplay shticks, and nothing about the map feels like a hindrance. The weapon selection is amazing, and there is an interesting twist with the new wonder weapon. The boss character is well-designed, and he is powerful without being cheap or simply a free source of power ups. I can't praise Treyarch enough for this map, it's one of my very favorites thus far.

Verdict: if you want to extend your Black Ops 2 experience, this DLC is very worth it. I made it very clear that I have a serious bias for Firing Range, but trust me, it's not the only map worth exploring.

Glad to see you enjoyed it. I was still on the fence, but now I may go for it.

And I do feel the lava is a bit over the top haha....glad I'm not the only one.

Now if only they could fix the gameplay issues rather than make more $$$ with even more content...

I agree, but they know they'll be swimming in cash regardless. Still, between the two CoD developers, Treyarch is far better at actually listening to the fanbase. If they could just remove lag comp, Black Ops II would be a phenomenal game in my eyes.
