found this forza5 article and it hits on something truthfull.
Between Forza Motorsport 2 and then three and four, the game got incredibly technical. The hardware didn’t get any more powerful, but we got more efficient at doing our math.

its the first honest article about any system to date. with all the buzz of cpu this and ram that. it just shows that no matter what in 5-10 years its just going to get more technical and possibly look better or do something we are not doing now. be it a table or kinect or something off the way thats not in consumer hands.

Turn 10′s Dan Greenawalt says that they are using 100% of the Xbox One hardware, with plans to become more efficient as the console becomes more familiar.
i personally dont think they are useing 100% of the hardware tho. they are useing 100% of the match/calculations that have a grasp on at this point. i think forza5 next year will be a better game than 2 months from launch.. and still be the same out of box/download that it is at launch. the hot fixes bugs and the ai/cloud stuff is going to open up new doors in my mind. till their is raw data and we the consumer show them how we are playing the game cloud and ai are still a big risk...

for me the evolution of forza needs to be towards aftermarket... be it exclusive cars.(titan motorsports supra) (underground racing tt gallardo) (ams alpha omega nissan gtr) (lms c6 zo6tt) (tt ford gt) (teck art 993/911) the game is nothing but cut and dry. their is no real selection of how you are tuning your car. they use to offer these cars in earlier forza's mostly mines evo's/gtrs and such. but for car people its those epic cars that make it. yes i am a bit upset about the lack of cars in forza5. we went from 600@launch to 150ish iirc for forza5. its a driving game i could care less about autovista and geting to look around cars. save the theatrics and 1080p for racing now a walk around.

well enough of my rant.

hear is the article its short and sweet.

Yeah. Using 100% of console's capability is bollocks. Developers get far more efficient by the end of the cycle.

See: GTA V

I think we put too much stock in developers saying 100% of the hardware. I would hope they use all the hardware to make their games. I want them to utilize the RAM and the GPU and the CPU and such and not only use half the machine's resources.

Now, how they make more EFFICIENT use of the hardware is I think what the important takeaway is.

Eh, considering 10% is dedicated strictly to processing for Kinect and Snap and whatever that's more like 90% overall. Not that it really matters in the end.

I don't think they literally mean 100% of all the hardware power. I read it as them saying they are using every component and feature inside the Xbox One, i.e. 100% of what's available. Example: They are using GPU, CPU, RAM, Cloud, Kinect, Controllers, etc. 100% of the features.

I agree with this statement. Because everyone knows if you use 100% of ram and CPU you get very bad lag and or lockups on pc's. So I strongly believe its 100% features :)

Its not the same for consoles. 2GB of the memory is reserved by the system. Devlopers are free to squeeze out ever single drop of the remaining 6 GB.

I'm not saying they are not gonna squeeze out as much as they can. But if your using 100% of ram and CPU your going to freeze. Using 85-90% is what you want to really peak at.

It will probably overheat alot more then. But as Sidd230 said, "the devs get more efficient by the end of the cycle". Which makes me wonder if GTA 5 is actually gonna make a GTA 6 that will be alot less efficent? Or possibly make a new GTA 6 and make it alot better.

This is part of any development cycle. The first games that are going to come out are going to tax hardware more than they will software. As time goes on, software will adjust and developers will get better at utilizing less resources or using them more efficiently. I think you'll find that this is something that the PS3 is currently experiencing where their developers have got to a point that they are finally maxing what the potential of the system is. Unlike 360 where this was taking place a few years ago, we are at the end of this console generation when they figured it out. Whammy.

It's the usual marketing bogus that they love to spit everywhere before launch. All consoles are the the best thing ever before release, but after that they start complaining that the hardware is not that good after all.

Console upgrading is kind of a strange entity of ideas. The hardware is great in the beginning, not good later. You could talk about having more RAM, changing graphics processors, any number of things. If you buy a console, the developers should just make the best games they can off those consoles. I have to admit though, I played Left4Dead 2 forever on the 360. My buddies want to play at one of our friend's houses so I put it on my laptop. When I started it the first time it made me wish we could upgrade the 360 for graphical output.

In my humble opinion, it would be better if there is no new GTA for the next ~5 years. Helps the series feel more coveted. I don't want GTA turning into COD.
