This gleeful third-person shooter is outrageously fun.

At the end of six hours, I was feeling as rough as Sam's voice from the challenge, but also coursing with adrenaline -- and a profound desire to walk around high-fiving everyone in sight. Vanquish is a supremely fun and polished action game that makes even Gears of War look like a leisurely stroll, and you simply must not miss it.

If Vanquish had been fleshed out with better characters, more variety, and a more substantial campaign, it could have been great. As is, the awesome suit amounts to little more than a fun toy in a forgettable world.

I absolutely love this game. It's true, the story is pretty much terrible and I don't remember any of it, but the gameplay is truly insane. Slow motion shooting down rockets, sliding all over the battlefield, slow motion shooting - it's like bullet hell in a modern shell.

The game is super fun. Taking the plot into account is nonsensical because it is obvious they only shoved that in there to give you some sort of purpose. The gameplay is too damn good to let the plot get in the way at all, anyway. An excellent TPS, for sure.

Also, as pietastesgood has said, it truly feels like a bullet hell shmup turned into a TPS, which is pretty damn awesome.
