I'm thinking about buying this game for my nephew, since he's been asking for it for a while now, but he's only 13 years old and I've heard this game has a lot of violence and gore. Someone told me that you can "turn off" the gore and mature language in the game if you want to... Is this true? If not, would people who have played this game before say it's too violent/mature for a 13 year old?

I personally don't think that it's too gory for a 13 year old,but both the gore and language can be turned off. In the menu, go to 'options' then select 'Mature Content' and turn Gore off and Language off. The online multiplayer, on the other hand, I wouldn't necessarily recommend unless he's playing in a private party chat, since you can't control the language once you're online.

At 13 years old, he's in the 7th or 8th grade, right? I can't imagine that video game would have any language in it that he hasn't already heard at school. Like it or not, that's about the age they start cussing behind mom and dad's backs. As for the gore, if he's ever seen a violent movie on TV, the video game is no worse.

I agree with samsim. If this was simply about vulgar language, you get that stuff right of television all the time. Not to mention anything he's already heard out in the wild. Then as for the gore of the game. if he has a family that teaches him right from wrong, fantasy from reality, etc, then you'll have no issues with him being impressionable.

I don't think buying that game to your nephew would be a problem. I have to admit that it is pretty gorry, but I even think you can turn Gore to OFF in the game settings. The only thing wrong with the language are the F-Bombs, but it's probably nothing more than what he hears every day at school :p

There is a fine line with 13 year olds; some can be very mature and others not so much. If you're at all concerned after reading the input you've gotten here, I would talk to the parents and see if they think he's ready for something like this.

It depends on your nephew. This game is undeniably really gory and there is language, but if your nephew has already been exposed to such levels of violence I don't see much point in not getting it for him.
