Viva Piñata: Party Animals is a colorful and good looking game, and it's suitable for kids and parents alike. No one will get too tired of playing the game, unless the kid turns it into a daily chore!

Fans of the original should avoid this one - kids will enjoy it, but Party Animals doesn't have the heart or charm of its predecessor.

If a sequel comes along with a greater variety of mini-games, more playable characters, and plenty of new dialogue (the two hosts' back-and-forth conversations get old quick), we'll be happy to play it. With this one, however, you might want to wait for a price drop before joining this party.

The game's strongest points are in both graphical and sound design, but that's more to do with the fact that Rare essentially shipped Krome (the developer behind Party Animals) all of their assets from the original Viva Pinata as reference. Each of the eight characters, as well as the announcer, also feature some nice personality delivered through comical -- albeit child oriented -- dialogue.

There's simply not enough of a game here to prop up the pretty pictures.
