Honestly, I was inspired after watching some anime series related to virtual reality. Titles like Sword Art Online, Log Horizon and Accel World come into mind when I think of it. I did saw online that Oculus Rift has partnered with PRIOVR to create a full body virtual reality gadget. I hope they can develop things further and I hope they can involve other consoles on the project.

There were reports of VR tech maybe becoming a thing, but the company behind a VR headset said it wasn't going to happen yet. If we get VR like .hack//sign then that will definitely change gaming forever. The idea of being that involved in gaming would be epic though I'm sure that we'd have to be careful of the technology. Still I hope to live to see and experience it without having a heart attack.

I think that like 3D TVs, it's something that is definitely coming, but I don't think that it's going to change the industry anytime soon. Technology like that is going to be pricey, I'm sure, and until the technology comes down in price, I don't think it will be a mainstream product.

I'm glad someone mentioned .hack when it comes to VR and anime with an MMORPG theme. That said, like jstep said, it's not something that will catch on or become relevant until VR is readily accessible at a decent price.

.Hack surely is a good example of a great VR game. Something similar to Accel World, Log Horizon and even Sword Art Online. I hope that we can get the technology that would work for it that way before we get older we can have a chance to play with it. Well, Oculus Rift and PrioVR are up to something similar. But the tech that they have currently is still at an earlier stage. We have to wait for a few years and see how it goes.

Sony's already making their own VR headset so I see it happening with the Xbox One. But yeah, seeing anime titles like those you mentioned explore the VR world is really intriguing. Especially SAO. I'm on the anime's 7th episode and man am I intrigued. The VR world... it's coming closer and closer as we live on.

Yeah, SAO will be releasing their second anime series this year. It's called Sword Art Online 2: Phantom Bullet. The story follows the manga that they made wherein Kirito (the main character) switches over to a game called Gun Gale Online (A game where you can use guns, swords and knives) to find a murderer who has been killing people online and offline.

Virtual reality is on the way to our generation. Slowly but surely the companies (Sony, Oculus Rift and PrioVR as stated above) are all working to create a new age of consoles. Well SAO as mentioned also above will be releasing their second anime series. I have seen the trailer though it is short, it does look quite intriguing. I love the anime series. Right now, I'm watching Log Horizon.

Cool, lots of companies are now working their way into the next generation of gaming which is Virtual Reality. I guess they are becoming more competitive now that Oculus Rift has started the trend. I hope I can get to play a VR game before I even have a grandchild. Haha.
