Some people haven't played this through to the end so I won't do spoilers (although I don't care if you do), but was the ending a copout to you or very satisfying or what? For me personally the ending was kind of weak, but the ability to ... handle a certain irritant made up for a lot. That said I feel like that was one thing the later games did a much better job of dealing with.

This is hard for me to decide because I think they ended it in the best way they could. I don't want to get spoilery, but it did feel like there were so many avenues they could have taken, and the team that did it wasn't even the team that started the story. Honestly, after AC II and AC Brotherhood I started to realize that it wouldn't end the way I wanted. The subject 16 puzzles, the secret glyphs, all the exploration of Italy was so good and slowly it slipped away. Sad.

Yes; the story was actually what kept me playing, and I was content with how it ended, as it set up the sequels properly while conceiving interesting historical revisions. Said historical revisions actually serve the plot and tie in nicely, and I thought that they made my time investment justified.

The thing about a series that seems to keep continuing is that any holes or wants in the ending of what can easily be filled in by another in the series. I agree, at first I thought the ending was pretty weak, but we'll see how it develops. Maybe when all games are put together, the ending will make a lot more sense and be more satisfying.

Can't say I still completely recall the ending but it was good enough I suppose, although an ending I really did not quite enjoy was Revelations which is a pretty big reason I did not care to try AC3. I find it sad that when I play a game it can actually put me off so much that I care not to even look into the next game at all.

I think the ending was decent, but they were obviously setting up for sequels so it ends with an obvious sequel hook. By itself, it's pretty weak due to its sequel hook status. It's a good think I already had Assassin's 2 by the time I beat Assassin's 1 or I would have been really annoyed. However, starting Assassin's 2 right after the ending felt great because AC2 really starts EXACTLY where the first game left off and that's great.
