Xbox One Well it's dead

Got my Day One Edition on the 22nd of course and yesterday it died.... Yep completely unplayable. I was greeted by a black screen saying "System Error, please contact Xbox customer support" . So I called them and there's no fix they said they don't even know what's going on with it because it's never or hasn't happened. Long story short they are sending me a brand new DOE and I'm pretty upset. Anyhow just thought I would share and hope you all are enjoying the console and games!!
 
I was hoping it would at least ship out today but haven't gotten a email with the tracking number so I'm afraid I might be waiting till early next week with it being Thanksgiving this week. :(
 
Man, that's a bummer. You probably just had some extremely unfortunate luck and got the 1 in 1,000 faulty console.

Did they just believe you over the phone and agree to send you a new console or did you have to send them a picture or something to prove it?
 
They believed it I mean it has an error code... A looooooong error code and they said it's not even a error code in there system. So with that they said I qualified for the advance exchange where they send me a brand new console and I send mine back to them so they can figure it out. It just sucks that I shelled out $500 plus and I'm console less for now.
 
Sorry to hear that. As long as they send you a new unit, I guess it's ok; though I know how painful is having to wait a few more days to get what you want. I guess you just got unlucky.
 
Yeah, it sucks....BUT they are taking care of it for you right away, which is great. YES it totally sucks. My Kinect crapped out and I'm waiting for a new one. ETA December 3rd or 5th-ish. I'm bummed, but these things happen with brand new systems. Just like I know some people that don't buy a new model of a car the first year it comes out because there are typically bugs still. We will be playing soon, promise! :)

I wish! No, they put a hold on your credit card until you return the broken one but will send you a new one right away. So we have a $120 hold on our CC right now until we send back our broken Kinect.
 
Awwww damn. Sorry for that. I hope Microsoft can fix this one. So it's not just disc drives; there's also the chance that a console can die out on you. I hope Microsoft can fix the problems so future owners won't have to deal with this and current owners get their new consoles in tip top shape.
 
Well this is good and bad...

Bad because you can't play right now

Good for the fact they are sending you out a new one no questions asked and on top of that, you may be the only one who got the error so since they will be examining your console they will be able to figure out what went wrong so they can have a fix for anybody else it may happen to.

Think of yourself and your console as a martyr for the XBOX One community! LOL
 
This is the risk you take in buying a console at launch. AT least they are replacing it for you. It could be worse. Hopefully you are luckier with the new console.
 
This happened to my friend once, he went to customer service but they said they couldn't do anything.. So he brought his fierce looking dad who had a mustache (o.O) And today his happily playing on his Xbox one all day! To be honest, I'm not sure what his dad did to change their minds..
 
Sorry about that. Hopefully it all works out. I haven't heard of this issue with any of the customers on the Ambassadors program either
 
Well they should send you a new unit if you contact Microsoft about it. Unfortunately it is the curse of the launch console, there is always a chance that you walk away from the store with a dud. It's what all launch day buyers must deal with and why I never buy any electronic device when it first releases. Hopefully Microsoft replaces yours soon so you can get back to it.
 
holy crap that sucks! i remember this happening to us with the original xbox, we couldnt play for a while and microsoft ended up sending us one in the mail. it was SLOOOW but then again its been a long time
 
Welcome to launch day consoles. It's unfortunate you have to wait for a new one, but at least they're taking care of it.

This is why I'm waiting to get one, it seems these fundamental system failures occur way less as time passes.
 
Unfortunately you are a launch day sacrifice my friend. One of the few and proud who buy launch day consoles and have them fail on you for a variety of reasons. Just contact Microsoft and they should send you a new one within a week and you'll be enjoying your Xbox One in no time. It's a shame that this happened to you but that's the risk of the launch console. You never know if you've bought a dud.
 
Well, on the bright side, our new Kinect showed up via Fed Ex today! Hope you got your new system by now :)
