What do you expect to see from Minecraft now that Microsoft has officially acquired the IP? Do you think that MS will make any future update and expansions to the game? And maybe also make them exclusive as well?

I don't think they are going to pull the game from PSN or Steam for that matter. It's going to continue in the fashion like it has been. Is it a good acquisition for them though? I am not sure about it actually.

I'm not sure what, if any, changes to expect now that Microsoft has Minecraft. I think at first there probably won't be any changes since fans obviously like the franchise just the way it is.

And maybe also make them exclusive as well?

Do you mean like, exclusive to Xbox consoles? If so, I highly doubt it. I think there are way too many PC gamers playing Minecraft for it ever to become a console exclusive.

If they make Minecraft exclusive they will alienate a lot of players and people and I think it's a stupid move for them. I mean, you already have the incoming revenue from the platforms why the hell would you pull it off? For pride? Well I think that's not really out of the question considering that this is Microsoft we're talking about after all.

But I think MS will have to expand on the servers and overall experience with the game and with a game as simple as Minecraft, there's no way you can f*ck it up not unless you do something really stupid and shallow.

Notch mentioned in the 'farewell' letter that Mojang already had a great working relationship with Microsoft for a few years now, I'm guessing since they started porting for the XBox systems. And that never influenced the way Minecraft was evolving (as far as I can tell). Sure, we'll see some changes I bet, in how the infrastructure is implemented/maintained. But at an exterior level, regarding features or the platforms the game is available on, I don't think we'll see changes. MS bought Minecraft for what it represents to the gaming space, for branding and image, not as a money cow.

We're not going to see any major changes to Minecraft from Microsoft in the near future. The fact of the matter is that the game is a cash machine and has been since it was released. Microsoft paid over $2 billion for the company, and it's not going to jeopardize that investment right now. I could see Microsoft slowly adding its own touches to the game, but this would occur slowly and deliberately to avoid alienating the users. You're not going to see Minecraft turn into an exclusive game for Microsoft consoles ever.

Honestly? I'm a bit concerned.. considering the mistakes made with Windows 8, Xbox One and the JP launch of Xbox One.. I'm worried about the direction they might go in...

I think what some of the moves that Microsoft will use would have to be making something for Minecraft exclusively such as a new game mode for Minecraft or a specific item that would be a game changer that only the Xbox 360 would have. Now regarding all the other mistakes Microsoft has made that other people have noted are Windows 8, I also think Kinetic shouldn't have been brought to Xbox One because there is not too many games that my age group would like and it is directed to the kid majority of the Xbox, I also think that Microsoft has defiantly raised most of their prices regarding the Xbox One and all of it's games.

Personally I think the popularity of Minecraft as come as a big surprise to most people, let alone the actual makers of the game in the first place and I can see that popularity only increasing in the future. With that in mind and the money the game as made and is still making, the possibilities could in fact be endless.

Technology is advancing all the time and with it so are the games, so while we may not be able to predict whats going to happen in the future, all we know is that Minecraft will be around for a few years to come.
