Xbox 360 What is your strategy?

Curious if there are other people who play this? Do you have a favorite civilization to play? What has been your most successful strategy? I had the PS1 version all figured out but haven't been able to master this version yet. Not sure if I am focusing on establishing the wrong thing initially or if my priorities are just all wrong, lol. So any help or advice is appreciated! Thanks in advance!
