Will you be modding your Xbox One?

I know some people are a bit 'skiddish' about their consels, and you should be, you paid good money for it... But Microsoft built in so many unnecessary limitations into YOUR Xbox that YOU paid good money for, so would you risk the soundness of your console by modding it (whether by software or additional hardware) to remove these limitations?

If they have a tutorial or maybe some samples online on how to do it why not right?

I posted a link in these forums a while ago that walk u through step by step directions on how to mod your HDD to 1 TB of memory with faster load times.

Again this is for knowledge sake and should not be attempted unless you go into it knowing that u assume all responsibility for any damages done during the install. As far as Xbox console mods there isn't much out there and this would be the most practical mod to do if Microsoft doesn't sell external hard drives.

At this point no, and not just because I have no idea what I'm doing. But also because I don't have a reason to yet. Still I'm planning on having a friend who knows what their doing mod my Xbox One for me. He's modded my other systems with no issues so I know it's going to be okay. The thing is that modding is something that violates your warranty so unless you know what you're doing or have access to someone who knows what their doing, I wouldn't recommend it.

no reason to upgrade or modd it till im at it limitations in space... and with microsoft saying they are going to release the ability for external hd i dont see a point.

i would assume in mid xb1 life cycle we may see a 1tb hybrid sshd option.. but i dont see the need for it at the present time.

I'm gonna stay away from it as I've been modding my 360 a lot lately, and would rather not have my XB1 banned.

Nah, not for the future XB1. Unless it can let me access the online parts, no way. I don't want to get banned from using online parts.

I modded my 360, if I had an X1 I would most likely mod it.

I don't think I would. I have had a fairly rough track record with Microsoft through the RROD with the firs version, so I am wondering why anyone would take a chance and mod their console which would eliminate the warranty and expose themselves to potential costly repairs or a replacement? I guess I'm just a scardy cat when it comes to this since I haven't had any issues with the latest 360 that I have, but I think that it's not a great idea to do the mods...

Mods will come sooner or later, just hope that microsoft will allow it, but as for now I will stray away from the idea just like you.

i recently upgraded my mac.. sshd, ram, new ios maveric ect ect... the performance is nice but its also optimized...

the say the last part of the statment because the xb1 is still new.. the user interface may be a port over but most of the slowness or laggy/glitches are 3rd party issues.. netflix, amazon, games and such.. im not sure modding the xb1 is a huge improvement other than storage. maybe a 1-3tb sshd would give you a slight loading/speed bump but not enough to really notice.

around a month ago i remember an article about microsoft throttling back the speed/switching between apps.. we all know the app is running in the bacground once its open. but you still have to get the newer packages and such. its not really a matter of speeding up the cpu or ram to cach it out.. you also need the network to be transfering the data. its not a cut and dry number..

the way i look at it is.. mcrosoft will release patches and stability/speed with the user interface once it gets the raw data of where things are optimized.. its not just apps it has to have processing. we have tv/kinect and such.

i will go on record to say that a 7200rpm 1-2tb hd while getting the size is nice to honestly make it worth it your talking about a 300-600+sshd to make it a noticeable gain. but i would rather hold out for a standalone 2-3tb external hd.. you can get 2tb on a usb3 for under 100 dollars.. imo its going to be the smartest and proably bestway to go.. most of us are on a gaming or higher end router that has the capability might as well go that route.

I would stay way from modding it since it can void the warranty. If something goes wrong after modding the system and there is no warranty then you're on your own.

On the other hand if the XBox is not under warranty there is no harm in trying something new if you're sure of what you're doing.
