Even though we don't how it's gonna be called yet, one thing's for sure - we are all anticipating it.
So how excited are you? Are you buying it day one or are you going to wait a few months?

Personally I don't think I'll be getting the next Xbox anytime soon. Even though I got my Xbox 360 back in 2006, I had three long years without playing it, so I'm still missing out on a lot of games.
Right now I'm playing the newest releases, but when they stop releasing for the 360 I'll still have a lot to play before I upgrade.

What about you? What are your plans?

Though I do plan on having one at some point, I'm definitely not a fanboy enough to wait in line for the release of it and spend some ludicrous amount of money on it. I'll probably wait it out a couple years for the price to dramatically drop. Also, just as the 360 did, I'm assuming the first couple models are going to have serious problems, and I don't want to have to deal with those nightmares again.

For now, I'l just continue using my 360, because so far it's done me no wrong :o

I think I'll wait for a few months afterwards. I'm still happy with the 360. Also what jakeraker said about the first wave of models having problems, rather wait for the all clear before dropping some money on the next Xbox.

I'm unsure. I'd only want the 720 for one reason and one reason only: Cyberpunk 2077. Other than that, I feel it would be an unnecessary way for Microsoft to suck more money out of me. I'm sure I'll get one about 5 years from now. It's funny, I'm not even joking about that. It wouldn't be worth it for me to get it when it releases, because I'm so busy with school right now.

I'll get it eventually, maybe. If I don't get a PS4 first. I'll wait a few years to see how the PS4/720 do and wait for a price drop and then I will get one. That's as long as they don't get any games that I NEED to play (and couldn't play on a PC).

Probably eventually depending on the price point and how it compares to the ps4

I've read all your comments and I have to say I agree with every single one of you guys :)
The only thing that will possibly make me buy the next Xbox within a few months after its release would be the next FIFA game, because of the friends I usually play with that are most likely going to upgrade when it comes out.
However, I'm not inclined to do that. I want to wait until it has a decent collection of new games, and I also want to see whether it is stable in terms of hardware - even though they probably learned with their mistakes, you never know :)

I never buy a console right after it's release, and I have a few reasons for that. 1 : The money : Waiting a few months may lower the price and take advantage of a deal price. 2 : Possible Hardware/Software problems : There are a lot of gadgets that are released with bugs and defects, mostly because it's a fast paced market, where you can't let your competitor take costumers from you. 3 : Waiting on games worth playing on new console: With the release of a new console, game developers will need time to make something showing the new consoles power.

Yeah its way safer to wait a little after its release. I remember buying the PS3 when it first came out, and I got the yellow light of death months after. That's when I switched to Xbox. But still, you never know , which is why I rather safe money, and be safe.

It really depends for me. I would love to buy it when it's released, but only if it comes with some great launch titles and if the upgrades to the system are really worth it. I mean, sure it will be faster and able to support superior graphics, but I think it needs something special, some pizzazz. Also, I'm praying that it doesn't shift towards the social and casual crowd as its main focus, I need some real games.

I am completely undecided as to whether I will make the purchase. I am excited about hearing the details about it. Will it be 3D? There are a lot of possibilities as to what will be its specifications. I may end up buying the SteamBox, which is basically Steam but in a console that I assume will be in direct competition with the 720. I'm just waiting until details are revealed.

I remember when I got my 360 back in 2005. From 2005 to about 2010 I was a very active member on Live and played almost every day. However, the community became annoying in a sense. Too much competitiveness in a non competitive envoirnment, trash talking, arguments, because we all know yelling at someone over the internet will teach them. I moved to the PC master race. The community is so much more calm. And on top of all of that, I will be able to upgrade my computer to be more powerful than the 720 before it even comes out. Save the trouble build a PC.

Eventually I might consider "upgrading" (depending on what new features they introduce), but we currently have two xboxs in our house, mostly just used for Netflix and media center, so if we get the new xbox it will probably be need based, like an xbox broke or something. But, depending on what new features they introduce, we may or may not consider getting the new xbox.

If the new console will bring big improvements to the graphics of the games, I will definitely buy it.

How can game graphics improve over where they're already at though? Today's games graphics wise are pretty much flawless. Player control is still an issue in some games but that's because movements and such have become more complex from the base of game design. But graphics I think at this point, can't really be improved too much beyond where they currently reside, to be noticeable and have folks run out and get another console.

I don't think I'm going to buy it when it first comes out. I'm incredibly satisfied with the 360 and I think it's still got a few good years left before it gets bad. I'll definitely wait a while before I consider buying it. I think it's a little early for Microsoft to be releasing a new console, but that's just my humble opinion.

If it has the same amount of exclusives as the last one, no, i will not. Maybe go PC gaming only, until they get some decent exclusives on it.

I'll have all of the major platforms if I have a decent income. Otherwise, I'll stick to whatever offers the best exclusives, although features are important as well. I also consider reliability to be important, and I'll never again buy a console that has frequent technical problems.

The problem with graphics right now is not so much that they can't be improved but instead: would developers/publishers be willing to have the huge budget required to make games with better graphics? Isn't making games extremely expensive as it is? Imagine if they made a game that looked like Final Fantasy XIII's pre-rendered cutscenes (which are gorgeous... on the PS3, 360 version has crappy artifacts on those cutscenes due to compression). The budget would be ridiculous and they might have a hard time breaking even at the current price of $60. It would make devs/pubs push even more crappy DLC tactics than they do right now...
