Willing cannon fodder, trying to learn

20 years of PC games with a mouse and keyboard, about 8-10hrs of multi player on my belt, only lvl15 feels like it would be best to just stand still so I stop walking into bullets, anyone wanna give me some lessons?

Anytime in the evening Tuesday, Thursday-Sunday I can help you with console gaming. It's not too hard once you get the hang of it. If you're interested PM me or I'm luke4100 on Xbox Live. Tell me what games you play or are interested in. Enjoy console gaming!

Edit: Yes I may be still a teen but I know how to play pretty well and I'm pretty mature for my age. If this age difference makes you uncomfortable it completely understandable.

I have some quick tips, and I'll try to refrain from hitting the obvious, as I'm sure you have some FPS experience.

Black Ops 2 tends to reward those who move, even though there are some very high-reward camping spots. Because of this, SMGs and ARs fit most situations the best, and my personal favorites are the AN-94 and MSMC. For lower levels, the PDW, MTAR, and Type 25 will do just fine. The thing to remember is that while mobility is important, choosing the right routes is crucial. Pay mind to where the thick of the action is, and take advantage of choke points that allow you to flank your enemies. If you're going to have to fight for said choke points, use concussions for room clearing. The beauty of SMGs, and even ARs, is that you can hip fire your opponent in CQC situations quite effectively, especially with a laser. While the LMGs are quite potent in this game, this is one area where they suffer. Speaking of LMGs, they make excellent support weapons in this game, and you can even use them aggressively in certain scenarios. Try the preset LSAT class; I don't care much for the perk setup, but they deck out the LSAT exactly how I do in my custom classes. You'll keep people off objectives all day with it, and give your K/D a boost as a result. I'm not suggesting just going for kills in objective games, but you'll be an excellent defense player in objective games with an LMG.

If you're going more for aggression like I suggested earlier, remember: routes. The kill times are so quick in this game that being seen before you see them places you at an extreme disadvantage. Mind frequently-camped spots, and weed them out with concussions and/or explosives. On to perks: flak jacket is a must for most objective games, as people will spam explosives. Ghost is always a good candidate to use your first permanent unlock token on, as being seen on their UAV is very disadvantageous. If you want both flak jacket and ghost, you can always opt for a wildcard. Toughness is always my preferred tier 2 perk, as it greatly improves your chances of winning a gunfight in which you were hit first. Tactical mask is a great tier 3 perk to use against those who use tactical equipment a lot, and you will be able to basically walk right through concussions and shock charges. If you're wearing both flak jacket and tac mask, you will be able to kill campers before they can even react.

I don't really have much else to add; I certainly can't hit everything, but I stress one more time: learn the routes and you will excel.

Here's a post of mines that I posted before on a similar topic.

•Always (x50) reload! I've suffered quite a few embarrassing deaths trying to take out 3 people with only 5 bullets left in the mag. Even if you are using an LMG, just do it.Trust me, your K/D will thank you. Which leads me to...

•I know you've heard Gaz say it, but switching weapons is always faster than reloading.

•A wise man once told me it's quicker to stab than shoot. O.o

•Don't concentrate on upping your stats or gaining a devastating Scorestreak. You'll freak out at every death, lose focus, and take things way too seriously..and that's just no fun. It's just a game, so treat it as such.

•If you start to go into a succession of bad games, than take a break and play/do something else for a few hours. Come back when you're in a good mood and able to focus. Your teammates will thank you.

•Every so often, do a quick glance behind you. There are some sneaky players out there who get a kick out out of running around stabbing you in the back (literally)..

• In team games, if you suddenly see 3 skulls in quick succession (indicating teammate deaths), um...it may not be a good idea to go there. If you do, be extremely cautious.

•Check the scoreboard every few minutes. If you see a player with a high K/D in the match, be prepared to face a nasty Scorestreak soon...

•Lastly, constantly eye the the bloody mini-map. If you see a red dot behind you, than that means an enemy player is actually behind you. This seems like a no brainer, but it surprises me how many players ignore this simple fact.

•Stay FAR away from flammable explosive objects (such as cars). They have this awful tendency to explode at the most inconvenient of times (such as when you are happily trotting by). I don't know if there is an employee in some warehouse watching the map with the trigger in hand or what, but stay away.
