Last time I checked, this great game was ruined by hackers and modders who abuse cheats in online matches. Is it still like that today? I haven't played World at War in a while, partially due to the game-breaking hackers who have fun by ruining the fun of others. I know Treyarch is too busy with more modern titles, but I just wish they would be able to stop or prevent the rampant cheating. I better not get my hopes up. :(

I haven't played the game either, and I've long since uninstalled it, but I don't see why hackers would be on such an old game. They'd be able to troll much more effectively on a game with more players.

There are still hackers. I think Xbox should take matters into their own hands and take over the World at War servers and start banning or suspending hackers.

While I haven't played World at War for a minute, I can say that it most-probably has this persisting problem. I've played Call of Duty 4 recently, and encountered several infected lobbies. Infected lobbies, if you aren't aware, are lobbies in which the host has a J-tagged Xbox that allows them to use mods, which are the so-called "hacks" that you're at odds with. Sometimes it can be fun to play along with the mods, because they're dual-edged swords that you can use against the user, but it's still against the rules for the host to use them. The best thing to do is report and try to find a different lobby; not every lobby you get into will be infected.

Last year when I played I had a similar experience, the game was overflowing with cheaters and hackers. Today, it when I played, it seemed that there were less than before. My general thought was that they just got bored of World At War and moved on to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, 3, or Black Ops. Now that the hackers have cleared out of the game, the multiplayer was pretty fun. I had always had a soft-spot for Call Of Duty: World At War though, because of how much I have always liked it. Overall, the hackers seemed to have lost many members in the Call Of Duty: World at War "world" and the multiplayer game is much more fun to play.

Hackers are horrible! I don't know why they even bother. I won't play any game where there are a lot of cheats. It takes the fun out of it for all of us non-hackers. I played this one several times and didn't come across any hackers.

I didn't really play this one online, but the once or twice I tried to, I had a similar experience. Mostly, if I played this one it was single player. I usually play Black Ops these days.

Early in the mornings up to 10: 11: am are the best time to play.

For one the European guys are nicer, less trash talking.
They are about 6 hours ahead of the US EST.
Two hardly any hackers at least until around noon when most are getting off work over there.
In the afternoon forget it, they're superstars and hackers start playing.
In the evening here forget it all our US hackers get on.
It pisses me off when some smart a## kid starts talking s##t the whole game.

WAW is still a great game I play it more on live than any other game.
I'm 48, my eyesight and reflexes just aren't what they used to be.
I can't keep up with the kids on the newer games, they make me feel like a blind paraplegic.

hackers are and will always be a problem in FPS. People get mad and cry when they can't win all the time, so they have to cheat. Feel sorry for them, report them, and move on.
