Just wondering how you guys think the xbox ones hardware will hold up on its first iteration? Will we encounter the same types of problems xbox 360 had with the rrod or some thing else. I know Microsoft took a bath on the rrod and one would hope they learned their lesson from that and this system should be on point. Thoughts?

All i can say is if they have issues with rrod type stuff, one would think it would pretty much be the end of xbox.

Thats just my opinion thou. I dont think they would let that happen again but then you wouldnt think they wouldnt let that happen the first time either.

I was kinda thinking the same thing the other day. RRoD crossed my mind. But, with every new game system release, there are bound to be problems with the first run of systems. Gotta have faith it doesn't happen to yours.

to think that the x1 will have heating problems shows you must not have seen the fan and cooling vents in and on the box. There's no way that thing will overheat. MS isn't going to make a mistake a twice the will cost them billions again. The only problem I'm seeing is developers not being able to come close to tapping the xbox one's power yet, as offloading to the CPU is basically future tech, and maybe issues with too many people trying to update day one at the same time. Tho the latter is unlikely considering Azure is far ahead of any other cloud service out there. There's nothing to be worried about other than not being able to plug it in and play due to update and mandatory installs

I definately think there will be issues at launch. Though I dont think there will be any game changing situations. I have confidence that MS will deliver.

After it cost them 1 billion to correct it...you can bet they FOR SURE arent going to let it happen again on there end. SHoot, thats why its so big, the WHOLE right side is the fan. Also, I forgot what article it was but one MSFT person said they cannot predict how some people will put there X1's. I still know morons who keep there 360 on carpet or no well ventalated area and when it gets a RROD they are like AHHHHHHHH MSFT SUX YEH HAXORZ GAAAA MONEYZZZ BAC... I just look at them and walk away.

I figure that they have made sure the overheating issue is solved. I've heard the shell is basically a big vent however I still haven't seen one in person. I just hope that it isn't a scenario where three weeks after release **** starts breaking and we all have to send them back for repairs

I sure as hell hope Microsoft learned SOMETHING from the RRoD fiasco. The 360 itself got much better over the years, so I hope they don't screw it up again.

However, I'm wary. Not just of the X1 but of the PS4, too. They both seem extremely rushed to me.

The only reason I kinda believe both systems seem a bit rushed is, the lack of grade A titles for both systems. Not saying the lineups are bad, but I'm shocked a game like Halo wasn't a flagship title for the XB1.

I'm not worried at all. They put a big fan on the top of the thing to keep it cool. Like Sinar says, $1 billion to fix it last time and a ton of bad press. They will not make the same mistake twice.

Those original 360s should never have been released. They got so hot it almost burned my hand to touch the top after even a short play session. Extreme heat and electronics don't mix.

Once they got the components cooler, everything was fine.

You'd think theu would start working on the next gen tech about as soon as they release a console ie: start work on xb1 as soon as the 360 launched. So in my book if they were indeed rushed there's no excuse for that. They had plenty of time to develop the system I think.

I think we all understand that Microsoft has understood the lesson with the RROD!
The design of the Xbox One confirms in sufficient concrete.

The hardware of the Xbox One seems to be largely correct, the OS is fluid and Xbox One is beautiful. Do not look for problems where there are none.
I rather think that the PS4 is what worries me. It is very small and very small fan also worried. I reassure myself by saying that the PS3 Slim is built the same way.

Xbox One perfect in this sense, so do not worry.

That's what I'm hoping! I want a sturdy console and relatively error free launch!

Alright then, still wary. If not something like RRoD, I would be wary of something else entirely popping up.

only thing i can see as a glitch at this point is going from game,tv,skype,netflix,facebook,movie,music.. i think the whole running in background is a great idea (horrible on handheld ios7) but on a constant powered device i think it will fair well. where i think the glitches could come in is the voice recognition and transfering across those applications via voice.. and how fast your trying to bounce in and out of those apps.

you know this will be some peoples gripe.. oh ive tried to go inbetween 6 apps in 30 seconds and its glitching or its getting laggy and that nonsense. or ive got 4 people in the room that are able to logg in and trying to talk between each other.. (the demo shows 2 people going between their xbox live account/setup but its not in a fast procesion or on top of each other..

as far as hardware and cooling issues. i think those days are gone. now if your a dumb @$$ and stick it in a poor ventelated cabnet with no circulation or some dumb stuff like throwing your laundry on it and letting it bake itself to death than sure but i dont think it will be a design flaw that takes the xbox one down.(you know some ones going to and blame it on sotty build quality or rrod again.

because its microsoft and what all went down with the rrod on the 360 the cross hairs will always be on them with that in the back of people's mind. i personally never owned a rrod model. i had disk reader issues(used gamestop console) but once i maned up on the newer console with the new chipset and all that i can honestly say my 360 has been flawless. i actually keep my console propped up with 2 game cases under it so air can get to all 4 sides proably because i was told about the rrod but in the end the manager told me i would have no issues and he was right.
