Xbox 360 won't turn on, what do I do?

So I don't know how to get my Xbox 360 to work. I replaced the power strip and I know that's working because every time I press the power button it makes a noise but nothing else happens. I replaced the external hard drive with an Xbox hard drive. All the power cord connections are intact and working well, including the HDMI cable that I have instead of A/V cables. The power block is glowing orange and I think that indicates that the console is on standby mode but I'm not sure. But I have not been able to get the console to turn on and show anything on screen even though everything is intact and the television is working right and on the right channel. All it does when I press the power button is make a sound like a beep and then nothing happens. Does anyone know what would help?
