Announced today on Major Nelson's blog, select retailers will begin offering download codes for certain games and add-on content for Xbox One and Xbox 360.

I think it's really cool that they are going to offer game codes for sale. It's much more convenient for those that don't have means to pay online. I don't like to pay online too and usually buy prepaid Xbox cards. Now I don't have to do it anymore and can just purchase the games from retailers. I just need to know which retailers.

gamestop offers in store purchases with digital download..

i am not 100% certin how it works.. if a code is attached to the game as a direct download or if gives you microsoft cash and you than buy the game...

either way as long as its purchased thru gamestop pre order you will get the codes for the exclusive content.. destiny for example i pre ordered it at gamestop and am getting the download version so i wont have to put a disk in but i still get the gear/guns that a pre order gets(comes as a code on receipt like normal)

I'm surprised it took them this long to do this.. You can do this with steam games already..

We might start buying the downloadable games this way, too. We had debit card info stolen earlier this year and now we pay with cash as much as possible. It would be nice to get downloadable stuff at say, Wal-Mart or Gamestop with cash instead of having to store credit/debit card info online.

you can always add paypal account to xbox/microsoft.. its not your bank account or info and you can buy stuff off xbox store with it.. i use it because if i ever get hacked its protected and i could fight it.

I know right, more than likely they didn't see it as a viable alternative, but they underestimated the laziness of gamers who want to order games from the comfort of their homes, but after Steam's success they're probably running in on the success...

I didn't even think about PayPal! That's a really good idea. I had an unauthorized charge recently to my PayPal account and they were AWESOME about reversing it -- and quickly, too.

i use paypal for my xb1 just because its easy to debate fake charges it it ever comes up.. at least you have some leg to stand on with them.
