found this post on a latin news feed... its not something i am really excited about at all. i have only uploaded 1 game play video in my days of gaming and it was a 1v1 race with a car class above me.

Online functionality for the game DVR will be slightly different. Using the Kinect, the Xbox One will save the last 30 seconds of gameplay if users give the command "Xbox Record."

and hear is a reason kinect is important for the xb1... its so minor but yet is a nice feature.

Meh, it's something, but it's not for me. I know there are several different ways to record gameplay if that's something you want to do. Having it as a built-in feature is nice for those who do, but it sounds more like an afterthought than a main feature.

i am kinda with you except i have never used a 3rd party to dvr/edit a recoreded game event.. having it their might actually have me use it. you have to assume they will use it as an acheivment like they already do. forza for example always has a bonus for recording a race and uploadng it to your profile for view.. or editing a car photo this will proably be adapted to most any game especially multiplayer like titafall and cod/bf4 games.

I'd like to say I'm not someone that personally cares for recording my gameplay, I'd rather just play it and have fun. Though this does seem to be something that could help out a lot of people that actually do record and post videos on say Youtube.
I believe it could also help out people that might not be able to afford or properly use a 3rd party device, hopefully though it won't consist of millions of Call of Duty matches. One can only hope right?

Once in a while something happens when I'm playing that I wish I could have recorded. The only thing is that you never know when that's going to happen, so it's impractical to record everything. Then, of course, doing it afterwards isn't an option. Either way, I'd be worried that the console would be too busy recording to perform at its maximum, but that probably wouldn't be an issue.

Only 30 seconds? The PS4 is being reported to do 15 minutes! Whilst I'm not really bothered for this features, if I was an amateur gaming journalist I would much rather get a PS4 over an Xbox one because 30 seconds is very pale in comparison to 15 minutes. Not sure how this will eventually play out, but with such similar specs the Xbox can most likely do better than 30 seconds.

I don't see myself using it in the future, since I rarely do anything impressive in games, but if it's a certain glitch or amazing play that I'll actually do, the recording will catch that which will be handy in the future. If you also want to record a tutorial and post it on Youtube, you can easily do that with the built in recording which is pretty neat.

they are saying it will dvr 15 min but no saying how its going to be done or if its an always on 15 min.. the way it is done is night and day imo.. with the xb1 you have kinect and the ability to say record on command.. this gives you the option of on the fly recording.. they are saying it is a burst 30 sec record to specific moments but dont forget games like forza offer you to upload the whole race after you do an event. now games like cod and bf4 may have their own system. bf4 offers a 3rd person view mode and already says their is ways of recording gameplay and already talks about how innovative that system is.

just found this posted today.
Xbox One is able to automatically record the last five minutes of your gameplay, less time than Sony will automatically store on PlayStation 4.

Microsoft Studios creative director Ken Lobb detailed the exact amount at San Diego Comic-Con while discussing the new Xbox One version of Killer Instinct (thanks, Gamespot).

It was previously reported that Sony would allow players to edit their last 15 minutes of gameplay on PlayStation 4.

so 5 minutes of record is enough for most gaming imo.
