Xbox One Xbox One can run Windows 8.1's new universal apps

This would have been great.

However the idea of buying them for each platform does not sit well with me. It would be ridiculous for me to buy the same app 3 times. I would just use it on one device instead.

I think Microsoft is wrong on this one. I have heard of "Nickel, and Diming". But this is criminal. I seriously doubt anyone will buy an app a second, or third time just use it with the Xbox One. Great Idea by Microsoft. Bad execution.

Maybe they will change this stupid rule in the future, but with Microsoft. You never know.

I don't think they'll change it anyways. They're planning on the whole all in one thing so they're leaning towards that.

I know man. Well we just have to see how this goes. As long as the updates makes the console better.

All in one, that's what they are working on. All we can do is hope they make it really good.

Exactly. I hate having to buy the app I bought on one platform all over again in the other. There's a reason it's called UNIVERSAL --- but if we have to buy it again on the other platform, seems to me it's more like double universal or something,

yeah, hope so. I do not want to buy the same app again. If an app costs $5, then imagine paying $10 for that~! That's already a cost of one game!

Cool! I think this is a good strategy for microsoft. The ps4 is a good gaming machine but it lacks media functionality. I like how msft keeps trying to not only make the one a great gaming machine, but to seamlessly integrate it to the entire windows experience. It seems to be a strategy that a lot of major companies are taking these days...like amazon and google.

I just hope we don't have to buy the same app twice. But if not, then cool. Whatever i'm using on my Windows 8.1, then I'd love to use it on my future Xbox One.

I think this is great. Windows has done a great with with their new platform and the fact that they allow it to be used on the Xbox should help increase the Xbox sales over the PS4. Should be interesting to see what type of apps we can download.

Like the fashion app, the cooking app, the language app.... okay, those were what we suggested XD hahahahahah.

Yeah, I'm hoping you don't have to pay extra for them per platform. Nice knowing they are compatible tho...

CAN run. CAN. Not "will."
PLEASE don't everyone totally freak out about this. Understand that there is a "Universal apps" thing Microsoft is working on, to make it easy to develop apps that run across Windows 8.1, Windows Phone 8.1, and Xbox One.
I cannot stress this enough: This does NOT mean that all those apps in the Windows Store will suddenly show up on your Xbox One.
What this does mean is that developers will be able to deploy an app to Windows, Windows Phone, and Xbox from a common code base. They'll have to make the interface different for the phone (portrait), windows (landscape), and TV (10-foot UI). They'll have to account for controllers and Kinect.

Are they going to be free? It's a great thing, actually. I wish I could pair it with a Nokia Lumia Phone now...

Whatever the case man. I think their marketing strategy will really improve this year.
