Earlier this week, Microsoft posted up a teaser site for their upcoming reveal of DirectX 12, the next major version of its graphics API that's used in nearly every PC game. Now that site has been updated with a Xbox One logo in addition to the Windows symbol.

It is/will be the best video and most consistent over the console/pc boards.. which would make sense if they can get it to all work together on the xb1... should help developers as well.. I'm not sure how familiar anyone of you are with invidia inspector(pc) but its basically the program the high end guy are using to tweak the games for optimal gameplay and twitch stream.. I am not saying we will get that type of freedom.. but once its a known recipe on performance/gameplay its a simple patch to get the game at peak fps/buffer,texture rearing and such..

i run dx12 on my mac and it works well.. i don't have a high end video card but the drivers do the job nicely.

March 20 is the day we'll find out if the XB1 will get this significant upgrade. Hope so.

I've got my hopes up for this new update. This will surely make the video quality even better.

This still depends on how better will the graphics be after the upgrade so I'm still stoked about the idea.

guess my post didn't go thru :(

yes we are getting directx12... but it wont be till holiday 2015:(

Today at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, Microsoft took the lid off its graphics API, DirectX 12. According to the company, developers will have more direct control over their visuals than ever, with more complex scenes and rendering features. And yes, these changes should translate to Xbox One games, in addition to a new focus across multiple platforms.

Microsoft wants DirectX 12 to exist as a "console-like" API, making it easier for developers to work with higher consistency and predictability. Direct3D 12 will apparently spread performance across multiple cores, lowering overall strain on hardware, and creating an environment where your rig--or PC rig--will have more headroom for running high-end graphics. Microsoft says 40 percent of all DirectX 11 hardware will be ready for DirectX 12 on day one.

Chris Tector of Turn 10 Studios presented a demo of Forza Motorsport 5 running through Direct3D 12 on PC. Tector was quick to point out Direct3D 12 would allow developers to more efficiently handle resources, but it was difficult to see exactly how Direct3D 12 was really impacting the game's performance based on the demo. Overall, the game looked more or less the same as it does on Xbox One.

Thanks Shark. I was searching on the web for news on the GDC but all I was finding was Sony's VR goggles.

Holiday 2015. Well, we'll have to wait then. Anyway, Xbox One and PS4 are early in their lives so I think it's worth the wait.

Wow, Holiday 2015 is the release? THAT is a long wait. Oh well, I got a lot of games to play anyway so by the time i'm done with them, Direct X12 is already with me.

Same here. It's gonna be a while but hey, we all got a lot of games to play so let's enjoy them!

It's a long wait alright. But I think it's worth it anyways like you said you have a lot of games to play, well same here. I've got quite a lot on my list.

Yeah, same here. I've listed down some things to buy including games and other house stuff.

Well yeah, I've been waiting for an update to improve the video quality for a while. I'm glad they plan on releasing this one sooner.

Well, with so many games to play, Holiday 2015 will come to us faster than a rabbit.

Yup, there's no need to feel like it's gonna take forever. It'll come, don't worry. And besides, it's still early in the Xbox One's life so updates will come later.

Yeah, this will take just a few months. They still have some decent games so let's stick with that for now.

I'm okay with the updates for now. At least we know that we have newer updates to improve the consoles.
