Being an Xbox Gold member, I received an email from Microsoft today with an exclusive offer for an engraved, commemorative edition of the XB1. I stated earlier that I simply cannot afford it day one, but this would be a pretty neat collector's item. Unfortunately my post count is too low to drop the link, so if a mod could add a reply with the link that would be great. If not, I will update once I hit the post count.

That's pretty cool. I will probably pre-order one right away, for the simple fact that in 10 years when they celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Xbox One, I'll get a Xbox One 10th Anniversary edition console like those on Xbox 360 did lol

Haha, I know. When I was reading about those lucky individuals who got those consoles, I actually thought Microsoft was super cool for recognizing that. Apparently the lucky ones had no idea either which makes it better. That would be a solid investment, I guarantee it will be worth a lot 10 years down the road.

I don't really have any interest in getting it right away, even if I could afford it. It sold out pretty much immediately at all the main retailers, which is a bit disappointing since I thought more people would be holding off. I suppose all the impositions that Microsoft is implementing isn't a big deal for some people, but for me it's still a deal breaker.

Already ordered it. OP, you can preorder it to reserve it and cancel it if you don't save enough money for it. They don't charge it 'till it's shipped. Plus the resell price would be significantly higher than a normal Xbox One I think. Hope this helped.

But, is it the same price as a normal one, or is it more expensive? Because for a novelty, i think it's not worth getting, but if it's just a pre-order thing, i guess that it's a cool idea to raise the selling value.

So this offer is only available for those that have an Xbox Gold membership? Pretty cool, but I don't really see any differences between the two other than the obvious engraved "Day One 2013" I'm interested on what achievement you will get though.

I still can't believe how many people are jumping on the bandwagon on this one. It isn't that I don't think it's worth it, but that's a lot of money to drop on a console with a limited library. Even the best games don't really last that long, and I'm not willing to drop $60 every few weeks when I finish playing a game. I can see wanting to play multiplayer, but there probably won't be all that many people playing for a while anyway. That's just me, though; I'd rather save my money and finally get caught up on all the Xbox 360 games that I haven't played.

Dutch retailers are mentioning a 14 day Xbox live trial included in the Day one edition.

Is that one you can add onto existing accounts or does it only work if you create a new one? I know they've started doing those ones lately. Either way, I think they should have put at least a month in there for these special day one editions. I know there was some confusion about them adding a one year sub in the box but that turned out to be false. It did sound too good to be true though.

Also, I was a bit surprised it isn't coming with a standard headset in the box. I know Kinect has a mic but still.

You make a good point here.
I reckon the multiplayer is going to be a little on the weak side for about a year until more people start getting the console.
In fact, I reckon the Xbox 360 will see a surge in more players online. I've just got that feeling.

Also, like yourself, I am gonna take this opportunity as the price falls on the 360 games to catch up on all the games that I missed out on over the years and get all the ones that were just too expensive, even 2nd hand to justify buying.
