Xbox One Xbox One Download Speed

Hello Everyone,

I have been really trying to get into this gaming thing lately. But I don't quite understand everything about the gaming world. Well I have a new Xbox one and I was wondering how fast or slow is it supposed to download. I tried to download a game that I purchased on line. It seemed like it took forever to get the game to download. I mean I love the game and all because it has tons of cool features that I really enjoy. But I try not to download if I really can help it because Like I said it seems like it takes forever for it to download. Do any of you have any tips. Or could you please tell me that I am not going crazy. I look forward to hearing from you all.

Is it your first time setting it up? What is your download speed like for your internet provider?

My internet is with Time warner and it is supposed to be the Turbo. And it isn't the first time setting it up we have had it for some months now. My internet runs fast so I don't understand why it would run slow.

If you're not using a hard-wired ethernet connection, and you're using wireless instead, then there's your first mistake right there. Downloading games that are multiple gigabytes requires time, even on wired connections, but a wired connection is sometimes twice as fast or more. It slows to nearly a crawling pace over wireless, assuming you're downloading digital games rather than simply installing from a disk. If you're installing from a disk, then you can't really speed that process up, however.

I think how fast it downloads really depends on your internet speed and your country. I find that if you're really far away from their servers, the speed will suffer sometimes. I guess it's always recommended to go with a wired connection where possible for consistency and stability. All my years with the Xbox I never got good speeds, maybe it's because of routing issues in my country.

i have a high end duel band router thats wired into my xb1... when games with gold drops i always download the 2 free games.. it is usually a good morning to download game..
the latest download took proably 2-3 hours for the 2 games.. both were in the 3-6g range iirc...

i have dsl and have no clue on where xb1 or the game servers are at so i cant say how it compares but i can say its kinda slow and i am in 2 big markets...(larger cities on east coast)
