Arriving tomorrow, February 11, the first Xbox One update will introduce many new small features including a tweaked Xbox One dashboard.

According to an Xbox rep speaking to Kotaku, you will only receive the Xbox One update if you manually choose to download it.

Same here, why would anyone want to leave the update.

not sure.. it actually does quite a few things that people have requested.
Xbox One owners are also getting a number of fan-requested features including the return of the battery power indicator. You'll finally be able to see how much battery life is left on your controller from the home screen.

The update will also allow Xbox One owners to see and manage storage space on the console. According to Microsoft, "you will find it easy to find how much space your content makes up and better manage your content." Additionally, you will also be able to control your install lineup and more easily manage your download queue. Microsoft has separated the My Games and My Apps into separate lists, so you will be able to create separate queues for both and pick the order in which you want your content to load.

Lastly, USB keyboard support will be added.

seems the known issues with party chatt and such are going to be the patch pre titanfall... kinda bummed about that but i will live. i would expect the next patch in early march will have more than just party chatt updates.. but not sure what yet.

oh yea last rumor i herd was the patch tommorow will hit around 3pm est...

I would have skipped the update initially if the download size is too big and didn't have much. However, I'll be getting the update too since it's got one added feature and that is a battery power indicator. This alone is one thing I've always wanted since the start.

it adds to a better voice command on kinect as well. ability to alter/control hd/storage better, obviously the controller battery life.. but really its going to be a decent size update and its an early one.. we get another in a few weeks basically.

Agreed. The updates sound solid. NOT updating it just seems, well...dumb.

Hm, I thought they had said this first update would fix the party system. Guess not. I was hoping to have an improved party experience in time for the Titanfall beta.

If there's another update in a few weeks does that mean these features will be available then too? If it's that then I suppose I can wait for a while and just download the entire thing all at once instead of splitting and updating twice in a couple weeks time. Sometimes, bad things happen when updating so if it's all the same in the end, might as well wait a little.

You would have to download it as two separate updates

It is delayed but will still be optional when it arrives.

Great. I really thought that the updates wasn't available anymore. I called my wife earlier to update it. Apparently it's not showing. I haven't had time to tinker with my Xbox One lately.

They said some time this week

Cool. Funny how they made the whole thing optional. Oh well, might as well have this thing updated as soon as the update is out. I wonder what new things it will have on the update.

I guess they anticipated that not all will like the new features.
