Be easy on me guys , Im really ignorant when it comes to this.

For the longest time my son has had an Xbox 360. Yesterday I got him the Xbox One and the trouble began. I didnt realize an internet connection was needed to use this. He has some disabilities, lives on his own and does not have the internet, for now. I took the console home and started the update process to get going and began to install the first game which is Titanfall. This took all night. Now that it is installed I find that it is a multiplayer game, cannot be ran offline and needs Xbox One Gold to run this now. Im really confused that Microsoft requires a subscription to play this game, on top of having to order internet service for him just to begin playing on this. I have tried to follow online instructions but as I said, I don't know much about this.

His Forenza game seems to work fine. But it still shows that it wants to install the game, but when I put the disc in to do that it goes right into the game. In the "pin" section the two games show up multiple times and each one is waiting for the update. Also, Im using my MSN email to log in but there is another name that popped up called "BreezierFever" and I have no clue what this is. When I try to start Titanfall, it wont let me play with that name, but it wont let me change to mine. Ive tried to delete the profile but it keeps coming back.

We have 15 days to take this back to Best Buy and quite honestly, Im seriously thinking about doing that. If I am missing something here please tell me. He was excited about this, but paying just to -play a game that was already paid for really gets under my skin.

I sure need some help! Thank you

Well Im trying. I spent some time with "Mary Anne" on the live chat. I got some information, but still not very much.

Taken from the Microsoft Website

"Play Xbox One games online or offline.
Your Xbox One doesn’t need to be connected for you to enjoy offline features of games. In fact, you can take the Xbox One anywhere and play any disc-based Xbox One game on it. The only times you need an online connection are for initial set-up of Xbox One, and to get the latest system and title updates before you start playing some games."

The console has updates once a month which will require an Internet connection. Also games will need to be installed to the Xbox when you first insert the disk and many require an update before you play them. To play online only games like Titanfall you will have to have Xbox live subscription. This can be had on sale for $40 a year. Regular price is $60. They have a program called "Games with Gold" which gives you 2 free games a month when you pay for the service. The titles have been a little lacking but there are not a ton of games out for the system. I have two subscriptions to Xbox Live Gold. One for me and one for my son. I think the service is worth $5 a month. When you sign up for Xbox live you will chose a gamertag which is your online name. "BreezierFever" was generated at some point during setup apparently. When you sign up for Gold you should be able to make up another and "BreezierFever" will just be listed as another non Xbox Live profile on the Xbox. You should be able to delete that one when you have another. I think there just has to be one profile on the Xbox which is why you can't delete it now.

Thanks Gringo what your telling me makes more sense than how "Mary Anne" was putting it in her lousy English. The other issue is my being able to block some of the internet access and prevent him from getting online and doing things. I have internet scheduled to be hooked up Sunday and if I can limit his access to the internet I may let him keep it. She was telling me that I could sign him up for a child account but Im not sure if he would be able to play Titanfall. If I continue to use my sign in maybe I can limit the access that way. It seems to me there was an option in the beginning to limit internet access. Ill have to check that.

If you do the child account you can "unlock" a particular game. So when you play a game like Titanfall it will ask you if you would like to remove the restriction on the game. If you say yes, you enter your code and that particular game is unlocked. No code needed the next time you play it. If you say no then the next time you load that game it will ask for the code again. That would probably be the best way to do what you want to do.

yea games like titanfall, destiny, sunset overdrive i would avoid they are generally associated with multilayer.

yes u would or do need a microsoft live service... it can be had for around 40bux on ebay... its much eassier to swallow than 60... why its not 100% required i would say its 99% a must to enjoy gaming.
microsoft is quite stable and offers a great service for whatyou pay..

a member of xbox live gold also gets 2 games a month free.. its more like 1 a month because one of those games is a carryover from previous month.. and so far non have been multiplayer only..
another option is ea access.. peggle2,madden25,fifa can all be played offline and offer some good games that will never leave the vault.. this service is 30 dollars a year...

sorry to hear things have not gone well as far as setup and general use.. kind of odd about the gamertag thing keep us posted with what you find or what microsoft says is going on.microsofts chart or call serivse is quite good.. ive used it myself.. i was frustrated but at the same time they got it sourted out..

Is there any news or info about modding the xbox one?

And are there modded game saves yet

Cuz I love bending the rules when it comes to video games

M36 -- I don't blame you for being aggravated about some of Microsoft's requirements, especially where online gaming is concerned. However, not all games are online only. In fact, I think Titanfall is actually one of the few games that's strictly online only with no offline campaign. It might be the only one currently. There are a lot of other games out there that you can play without an Xbox Gold membership and Internet access.
