I was a bit confused when I read the title, but more confused after reading the article. What they're basically saying is that you are able to record the whole game, but only have the ability to edit, voiceover, do whatever you need to do for the last 5 minutes of your gameplay? If there can be any clarification, that would be fantastic.

"The idea is you're always recording," Lobb said of the Xbox One's game DVR feature, nicknamed 'Project Upload'. "The last five minutes of any game you're playing are always being stored on your hard drive.

From what I gather, you can record your whatever you want during your session, but the last 5 minutes is always recorded as a fail-safe.

I assume that being able to say 'Xbox record that,' to record the last 30 seconds you played- if you did something awesome, for example and cannot pause or stop the game- is dependent on having a Kinect. I know at first they said all Xbox One consoles would be sold with the Kinect, but I am unclear on whether or not that is still happening. The record feature does sound pretty cool, though!

I know my husband will love it- he is a hardcore gamer and gets very proud of things that he does during Battlefield or Black Ops, and I know he'd love to be able to replay the cool things he does. I will most likely use this feature when I play Tiger Woods- there have been many time I wish I could save a replay, as it is the game I excel in most.

Saving a replay has something I have always been wanting to do since my 1st N64 memory card. I remember my dad got it for me on the day I got the console and I was like, ' what is that'? Can't I have a game instead? And he was like ' trust me, you want this, it allows you to save your game, so if you're in the middle of a game and have to go put or have dinner or go to bed, you can save where you are and come back to it'. I was blown away! Finally, no more starting over when I turn the console off! I could be able to start right off from where I left off! Well, we all know it didn't work quite like that don't we? But memory cards and saves have got better. One thing I never could do was replay an amazing thing I had done though and that is something I've always wanted to do, whether it was a kill. Or a goal, a trick or a sick jump. I hope we'll be able to stop mid game and replay what we've just done though and not just the last 5.

Also, where are they storing all this data? Surely it's gonna be millions of terabytes of data to screen record everyone playing every game. Even wight the biggest servers on the planet it's gonna be ridiculously expensive!?

The idea of capturing replay is something i think we all have wanted directly from your Xbox. I myself i have a HDPVR Recorder which I hook up to my Xbox and records to my Computer so I can edit and slice up to make video's from not just one game but an entire season highlight which can easily be uploaded to Youtube...

It's good that Microsoft is now trying to compete with PS4's recording feature. At first I thought the fumble at E3 was a deathblow to the Xbox One, and while it still may be, at least they're scrambling to keep improving it in response to a lot of Sony's features. I'm genuinely curious to see how this recording feature on the Xbox One will work. It might lead to a new age for Let's Players and such, if it works as some speculate.

Why don't you have the chance to turn that feature off? It's not that it would be that hard to make this available as an option.

So what is behind that?
