Xbox One Xbox One responds to... "Sexbox"

This is.... :cool:

Kotaku just discovered that the XB1 Kinect can recognize the word "Sexbox". Hahaha. Okay, full story is, Kotaku recently discovered that the Kinect can recognize some words and letters that can pertain to a certain game. Example? Assassin's Creed. When you say "AC Four" it goes to Assassin's Creed 4. Say the actual game name and it still goes to you. Sweet.

Then somebody...

As (wonderfully) pointed out by colossalblue on Twitter, you can actually call your PS4 "Babe Station" and it'll respond. I tried it out and yep, it works. And guess what? You can also call your Xbox One "Sexbox," and it'll perk right up and ask you what you'd like.

So, you know...P

"Sexbox: Watch Cinemax."P

"Babe Station: Playroom."P

And of course...P

"Sexbox: Unsnap."P

I am never calling either of my consoles by their actual names again.

hahahaha. Wow, you can call the PS4 a Babestation?! Hmnmmm... seems Sony and Microsoft didn't think Babe and Sex were not to be part of the recognition XD Well guys, wanna try out these commands and see if it works? If it does.... I AM NOT CALLING PS4 AND XBOX ONE BY THEIR PROPER NAMES AGAIN XD

hahahahah. What? You can say Sexbox and Kinect recognizes that as Xbox? Man. This is weird. Just weird indeed. Reminds me of those times when people would fool around with Siri and say stuff to exploit it. Now, the voice recognition can be fooled in the Xbox, este. Sexbox XD

Haha. Now that's a cool way of asking xbox. Well it's something that I can't say here. Well unless my 5 year old daughter isn't around if that's the case. Way to go Kotaku. I hope he find more interesting things about xbox one that we can try.

Too bad for you. haha. Well I get to say Sexbox a lot. Either way, good job to the guy who discovered this. Give us more.
 
Wow, makes you wonder what the team that organizes these things have on their mind. I’m just contemplating on how this might affect people who actually see their game consoles as actual partners. I’m already imagining in my head of YouTube videos in the future that will feign actual marriages, soap operas, and such because of this.

And for the honeymoon, don’t even get me started on that. Maybe this is hinting to more advanced virtual and sentient male/female operating systems in the future.
 
I have not tried it, but chances are it will also respond to things like;

FleX box
HeX box
TeXt box
ReX box
SupleX box
 
Thanks for the post marthy! I love the "Sexbox, unsnap" part from the article. Actually, I think it's really cool that they are making it intuitive enough to recognize things like 'AC4.' I bet it will probably understand 'COD' or 'Ghosts' as well. I'll have to try this later tonight!
 
Sexbox doesn't sound that much different from Xbox, so I'm not surprised that it'll respond to it. Like someone else pointed out, it'll probably respond to a whole host of words that end in "-exbox."
 
It really goes by AC4? I'll have to try that, I thought I had to say the whole name. Saying just Assassin's Creed 4 doesn't work, you need to add the Black Flag.
 
Hey with Porn backing Sony and now interested in connecting to the Xbox One, I'm thinking that maybe Microsoft was already thinking ahead of the curve. Anyway, it's a funny little tweak on both consoles and personally amuses me. Man voice controls, am I right?
 
Could just be that they're responding to "Sexbox" and "Babestation" since it sounds similar. Given different accents, some people (like myself) naturally speaking faster and "Xbox" sounding like "Sexbox", "Sexbot", "Xbot", "Sexpot", "Xpot", etc.

Sexbox does sound like a vaguely labeled box of who knows what that you'd get from a yard sale or the offshoot of Ultimate Surrender. I'll be quiet now.
 
That the thing about voice controls, as long as your pronunciation is close enough then the Kinect and Eye will understand what you're trying to say. Although I have to admit it brought a smile to my face since I gave into a moment of immaturity. Still, it's a fun little perk that will be amusing for an hour but the fun would probably die soon. I'd like to see what other close enough words they respond to.
 
I wonder how much time it will take them to patch it up. If they ever will. But like noblesserai said, you only have to pronounce a close enough word for Kinect to understand you. Which is only natural, since nobody is perfect and the Xbox is the last one to start teaching you grammar :D
 
Sexbox (and likely anything rhyming with it, I suppose) is probably just a funny phonetic coincidence...still, good to have a sense of humor at least ;).
