Xbox One Xbox One S Controller Compatability

Hello, I just got the Xbox One S and was wondering if the old Xbox One controllers should still work on the new console.

It seems to work fine when wired in but I can't get it to sync wirelessly to the Xbox One S and was wondering if it is supposed to be able to.
