It’s no secret that the Xbox One has had a rough reveal. From the Digital Rights Management controversy (that later saw a reversal in policy) to utter miscommunication from Microsoft’s internal parties at conveying the proper message of their new console, the Xbox One could not seem to catch a break.

The negativity saw some reversal yesterday, as Microsoft revealed their updated policy regarding self-publishing for independent developers on the Xbox One platform. This was followed up with the revelation that every store bought Xbox One console is indeed a possible development unit.

It's good to see Microsoft making moves to improve their reputation with the gaming communit and iit's also good to see them pushing for cloud based storage.

Thats great news to hear the that Xbox will offer free unlimited hard drive space via the cloud. With all the new features on the xbox, im not surprised that this was added. All these new features are going to take alot of space and people wont be happy having to fork up extra money paying for a bigger hard drive.

That's good to hear. I like installing my games to the local hard drive, and with large DLC, memory goes fast. The fact that I can now keep my games on the cloud is great news to me, and I intend to take advantage of it. I just hope that it means no drop in speed or quality. With all this space and streaming, I just hope we see the death of loading screens coming soon.

I don't see where it says there you can actually save DLC or any game content. It sounds like they are talking about cloud saves which is limited today. Honestly, unless they are talking about some kind install to the cloud feature I do not understand the benefit over what we have today with the 360.

I don't know how 'unlimited' it'll be. To have actual unlimited cloud storage, they'd need insanely powerful servers to compensate for all of the people downloading and storing things on the Cloud. It'll probably have a limit on it, similar to how cloud storage is on the Xbox 360 nowadays.

even at 250gb thats allot of saved game data to be honest.with the installing of specific game parts for power i ca nsee the cloud not requiring a ton.. reamember they are also having dedicated serves for games.

That sounds like it could be a pretty cool feature though if I get an Xbox One I doubt I'll use it. I prefer to keep my saves on my actual console for reason of when I do not have access to the internet but for people that may need extra save space for various reasons. Nice to see Microsoft doing a few good things to counter the **** they've tried to pull.

I won't use that, I don't think this can be considered as secure. I don't like all those cloud storage offers actually.

We are just too used to give away every data files we have.

True, but even worse is what happens when your internet goes down. So you've saved your stuff online and now - what? Also what happens if something unfortunate happens to the servers (this has been known to happen quite a lot actually)? I don't know. I just don't trust the Cloud like that and so this really isn't all that enticing. Still at least they're trying to put something out there.

Not sure how many people this applies to but it seems like a nice feature. I've used my 360 quite a lot and I don't think I ever bothered using the cloud storage there. Also do we know if it really is available to everyone, or just for people with live gold?

That's a great decision by Microsoft, but they included that the storage is only for game data, which is a bit disappointing. Aside from game data only, this opens up a lot of space for you to record footage of amazing things without the fear of having barely any hard drive space left at all.

I keep everything in the cloud and haven't had many issues. I really like that this will be a feature- and I especially like that it will be free.
