Xbox One Xbox One update promises to fix Kinect sensor snafus

Yeah, I saw a kinect update in the recent update specifications.

To be honest. I am not impressed. This should have never been, an issue in the first place. They should have had everything ready to at launch. I have already given up on the kinect. u unplugged it, and put in my living room closet. I really have no plans on using it again. Unless they finally develop some games for it. Until then my Kinect will stay in my closet. Where useless devices should be!

Microsoft needs to start developing games for it, and soon.

This is good news, everybody! It will make the Kinect worthier than it is right now.

Agreed. They aren't utilizing the Kinect to its fullest at the moment. I think it's a great accessory and love using it, but Kinect Sports just doesn't do it for me. I'd like to see some more adult oriented games as well...

Kinect has been around since the last gen, and we still don't really have a reason to be playing it. Fixing some bugs isn't going to change that. It's a useless gimmick, which doesn't even work in most people's homes because of the draw distance.

I guess unless they make the tech available for all games it would not make sense to even have it.

Hmmmm.... well, hope it can at least have a better function or something.

Precisely. The best sort of thing we've had come out of the kinect has come from the homebrew developers rather than any official game or anything from microsoft.

I must admit that I am experiencing some problems with it and I cannot wait for Xbox to fix this already.

Whether you want to argue Kinect being a gimmick or not, and its an argument no one can win, the last part of your post is not correct. The Xbox One Kinect has a much better camera and works in about any room large or small. That was a specific issue with the original sensor that Microsoft worked to fix.

its a start...

the kinect needs support and application... without it its stale. so that means it needs games/apps that use the technology

once developers get comfortable with kinect and microsoft can dial in kinect and get dev feedback/customer use and raw data things will fall in place till than its all a pipe dream..

kinect has one heck of an application based that is untapped..
think of bf4/cod/titanfall where instead of a controller kinect could track a lazer or some type of feedback from say a airsoft style gun.. where instead of the gun on screen being static it had mobility. its a very capable peice of technology and one thats got almost no use yet..

kinect may seem eh but its the closed thing we will have or will get o a vr/emersive gaming.. where vr seemed the way to go look at it as kinect can do what vr did without the head set.

I know man. I don't know what the deal is, I wonder why they can't have anything unified for everyone.

They can make it but they're so busy with the competition going on.

Except the best way to break away from the competition would be to actually produce something decent of their sole difference from their competition.

Its been a long time coming to be honest.
Been annoying waiting for them to manage to fix the issues with the kinect.
At least they finally listened and fixed it.

I rarely use my Kinect at all. Im seriously thinking about selling it one eBay or something. I just think its a gimmick that will never truly catch on. The Wii made motion gestures the new fad when it came out but honestly ive always preferred a controller. Trying to navigate through a kinect game with hands gestures is pure torture!!

When the worth is currently at 'not worth ever having in your house', that isn't exactly saying much, now is it?
