Xbox One Call of Duty now on 3-year development cycle

That would be cool. Not too big on Titanfall myself but it at least is a lot more interesting and unique.

Yeah, I could say that it would be nice if they could come up with new things like titanfall. They could have made COD more like a futuristic game. More cool weapons and places.

My bet is that Titanfall will eventually. Maybe not with this first game but Titanfall 2 will have a good shot to do it.

I could definitely see this happening. I think both CoD and Halo started this way (by CoD, I mean the first Modern Warfare). When they were both released, they had pretty solid numbers, but both games had very strong legs, meaning they continued to sell well over time due to word of mouth. People were realizing how great both games were. I could see Titanfall definitely being like this. It won't be huge when it releases, but it'll be big enough, and will continue to sell strongly throughout the year which will build up plenty of hype for Titanfall 2.

Personally, I'm not really much of an FPS guy, but I'm just tired of hearing about how the next CoD is going to be 'teh awesome'. Even though Titanfall is also an FPS, I'd much prefer for that game to be king, just so we can have something new to talk about.

At first I read this as a new one would come out every three years and I thought "Thank God they're finally doing this!" Then I realized that I was wrong and they're just adding another studio to produce three similar redundant games in a three year time span. When are they going to take their head out of their a**** and realize that most of us would prefer a slower game cycle with a more unique, polished game each time??

When they stop making billions of dollars every year by simply rehashing a game. Everyone needs to vote with their wallets.

Don't buy COD then, and then convince everybody else not to buy. That should convince them to polish it up. but then it'll take time to convince millions of gamers to stop. Yeah, it's not going to happen anytime soon.

Nice idea. They might rethink the whole thing if no one buys it.

Oh, I absolutely agree with you. It will never happen. People (including myself) will continue to buy them as they come out. Just wish it wasn't all about pushing out game after game ($$) and was more about the games themselves (quality). I know it will never happen though.

So what you're saying is that you're part of the problem? *shakes head*

Totally. It would take more than me to make a difference in that regard. Plus, running this site, I kind of HAVE to know the major games...Even with the Playstation games. So many are on both consoles but I do have access to a PS4 to play the Sony Exclusive games that I need to know about.

Sounds like an excuse to me! lol ONLY YOU CAN PREVENT COD!!!

Well, dude, I don't buy COD. >:-D hahahahahahahahah. So if there were more gamers like me, then COD can fall! But unfortunately, it'll take a lot to make gamers be like me. Ah well, that's how it is.

Really? I thought infinityward made MW?

I was referring specifically to Modern Warfare 3, not the whole series. The first 2 MW were indeed made by Infinity Ward but MW3 was then switched over to Sledgehammer. If you follow the year gap between the different COD games, then it makes sense. So if what Activision said is true, Sledgehammer's COD entry should be released this year.

Actually the remaineder of Infinity Ward still worked on MW3, Sledgehammer was brought in to assist since IW's numbers were dwindling. This next COD will be the first one that Sledgehammer is in charge of.

only cod i have played/purchased was bo2 and it was because i was advised to by a few friends who had purchased..

I'm thrilled by this news, since I've always believed that the series was coming out to quickly. Ghosts wasn't that so here's hoping that the extra time gives them a chance to polish it. I was kinda getting sick of COD (approaching that place with AC) so a break is great for the fans too.

I've been a long time COD player even from the first COD. Short summary i dont play COD anymore! Last COD series i played was MW3. They will have to really impress me to get me to play their series again.

The best COD in my opinion was original COD 3. MW and WAW were super fun as well. Then after MW2 the whole perk setups, quick scoping, kill streaks and questionable kills (like some kids shooting your toes 2 times while u put a whole clip in their head) I lost appeal for the game. COD used to be a true shooter skilled game. U could tell who had skill and owned everyone. COD 3 is the perfect example of this! U were ether a head shot master or dead. Also they had rank systems right. U had regular gameplay where no stats were posted then u had ranked matches where u were given a number of your rank based on how good u played. If u had a bad day you rank would drop. Everyone knew the best players because they could maintain a high rank number.

If they re due COD I would like to see something in that nature as a rank system. Also give the non competitive gamers there own lobbies where they Dont have to have a scoreboard tell the world how bad they suck. Another thing they need to bring back is to be able to pick a lobby of the map u want to play. COD 3 u could play any map at anytime in any game mode u wanted. I Dont like the random draw they have now. Anyways just wanted to give my two cents about COD. It all frustrates the hell out of me and that's why I play battlefield now, not that that game doesn't wear on me but not as bad as COD does lol.
