Xbox One Controversial Xbox One indie launch parity will continue

Yeah, let's see if what the MSFT is doing here will win more games for their format. Sony and Steam are already ahead. Better catch it up.

I can't say I agree with this policy.

It hurts indie developers who want to release a game on Microsoft's console but may want to get it running, stable, and feature-locked on PC first.
It also seems to hurt Xbox gamers as a whole, the unnecessary stress put on 5 people dev houses that may not have the manpower to launch and support games for three platforms at once will just scrap the Xbox project, and then, we are the ones loosing out.

Indie gaming on consoles offers gamers such a great alternative to mainstream games that we should be happy to have them. Obviously indie developers have less resources than the big companies, I feel that this policy is just going to put more pressure on them, pressure which they don't need. Just seems like another Microsoft policy to assert their dominance, at the expense of gaming in general.

I agree with the two previous posters. This will only push indies away. Sony and Stean are good for Indies by being more open, not by imposing stupid requierements. Bad move.

I agree. Why does MSFT want to always be the first? Why do they have to pressure indie developers to put the games on the Xbox One the same time as other platforms? I'm even surprised that they ACKNOWLEDGE this policy. And they think this will make US the winners? I don't think so.

Exactly. They're gonna hurt their sales if they keep doing this. They got to know that they do not OWN developers. The developers got a lot of factors to consider and to be told you HAVE to release games alongside platforms is ridiculous.

Whatever the case man, we can't really stop them from doing what they are doing, I just hope they could read our comments.

Exactly. I don't get what MSFT is trying to achieve with these policies. Gamers are winners they say? And yet, they have these policies that require so much from the indie developers. It's like, they're afraid to take the risks. Yeesh, MSFT's got to loosen up already.

Whatever the case man, it's like they're the one's who are really benefiting from it.

Sales wise yes they are earning a lot man. More than what gamers are even getting from their list of games.

Yeah, I guess that's true. But I have to side with diamondback8. The policies suck but then again...... who knows? If MSFT make good sales with these, then they got something. But until then, not supporting these policies.

Same here. I agree with you and diamondback8. Who doesn't hate policies man.

Who doesn't hate policies? The ones who made the policies themselves. But of course, there are policies that make sense and that's Sony's. Sony's policies are less restrictive, so they can let indie devs bring their awesome games to the platforms without having to feel pressured they put it alongside other platforms at the same time.

I thought you said that Steam was dead for a second there, and I was about to inquire as to what world you live in.

haha. well I guess after all the new games coming out some people forget about stea.

considering steams the go to thing for pc gaming I think it's fine for quite a while.

The ID program isn't nearly as bad as people are making it seem. For starters it's WAY better then the 360 one which super picky about exclusives. Really all that this one asks is that if you're going multiplatform that you do it on all the of them at once (might be just ps4 and PC but don't quote me on that) While that is more work that's also more exposure for your games. If it is too much work you could always just launch on one I mean it's all options. Plus they made a point about saying that they'd look at it on a game by game basis and I really don't that if a indie dev did well on ps4 and went to microsoft that microsoft would say no. I might be listed as some bull**** new title so that they don't get in an exclusive conflict.
