Um, not having an answer the week of the launch indicates its not possible. They're not just gong to announce the day before to go download it off the site, that would be counter productive. The traffic would crash the servers on the site which is the problem they would be trying to avoid in the first place.

its not like the next day or two the servers will not crash. they would have definitely looked into that issue

I'm sure they have been running "load balancing" software for months in anticipation for all of the software downloads on D1.
