Xbox One Does the Xbox One Camera Record 24/7?

I don't thionk MS is that stupid. Recording 24/7 means huge amount of bandwidth wastage.

Yeah, so true. I don't know why people keep on posting things like this, I mean it's misleading. Privacy conscious people will be paranoid if they read this.

From Gizmodo: "The Washington Post reports that the FBI has had the ability to secretly activate a computer's camera "without triggering the light that lets users know it is recording" for years now."

FOR YEARS NOW! To think that someone could not access the camera on the Xbox One remotely is somewhat naive. Is everything on every Xbox recorded 24/7, no. Is everything you do in front of that camera guaranteed to be 100% private? Not likely.

Guess this would have fit better in the, Xbox Spying on Us, thread. I agree it does not record 24/7.

I was going to ask where do such rumors pop up, but honestly the X1 Kinect's abilities kind of played right into the whole "The government is watching and listening to me because I have important, country/planet-threatening stuff going on all.the.time. I'm also a local superhero and don't want the government to know my identity so that they can send me a bill for damage"-paranoid that hit during the summer.

...as if Microsoft didn't have enough stuff to deal with earlier in the year with Orth, Mattrick opening his mouth, the original direction for the X1, and that moment of creepiness during the Killer Instinct stage demo.

Either way, we're still being watched to some degree. I agree on the private bit. They can still detect us but to record us, it needs lots of resources to maintain that. That's why if we see some ads being tailored to how we acted on the Kinect, then they did watch us. Let's just see when that happens.

I also had a belief that the camera records 24/7.

In fact I'm so paranoid about it that I usually turn the camera to face the wall when Im not using it.

Not that I have any reason to hide, I just find the thought that I'm possibly being watched and not realize it pretty creepy.
