What would Microsoft have to do to get you to buy an Xbox One sooner rather than later? Would it take a price drop, more games, or something else?

For me, I'd be more willing to buy it in a bundle if it was a decent price. I've bought all my consoles as bundles (either with games or digital content) because I'm stingy. Same with new games with only one or two exceptions. I'm just picky about buying new things unless there's some added incentive, you know?

I think a price drop, along with FULL backwards compatibility AND being able to opt out of the kinect would change my mind.

As it is I just don't see a need for a new console. Even the PS4 at the lower price point doesn't appeal to me, mainly because I'll end up having to buy games too.

I do realize my criteria would be met when hell freezes over, but you asked.

Well if you wait to see what is going to happen in the future, the PS5 is not going to be any better.. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/ps...nd-monitor-says-tekken-producer/1100-6415431/

See I just think the current generation has become to stale to be the only choice. I liked it back when we new that within 5 years or less we would get an upgrade. I happy welcome the next gen and will be a Day One adopter. With that said, had MSFT kept many of their online features, instead of throwing them out because people don't like DRM, I would be a lot more excited.

^^Agree.I would've of probably paid $100 more if it was higher just to move on to the next generation.I guess that's why I am not a game horder. If I got the opportunity to experience and do knew things no matter how feeble they are I am doing it!

Right now the biggest thing holding me back is the Kinect. I don't want a Kinect and I never did. If it was something you could buy separately like it was with the 360, then I would be running up to Microsoft and trying to give them my money. But because they had to attach the Kinect, the console is going to be more expensive and the specs might suffer for it too. Having backwards compatibility would also score some major points with me. It used to be that the Xbox and Playstation were the two "hardcore" consoles and the Wii was the casual/family one. Now it seems like it's just a hierarchy where PS4 will be the hardcore console, Xbox will be the middle child, and Wii U will be the casual/family friendly one.

The price, and by extension the Kinect, are what's holding me back. I'm not as interested in Kinect gaming as I am in just regular controller-in-hand gaming, at least not until they come out with some seriously innovative games. Right now the extra weight of the Kinect's price can't be a justifiable purchase for me.

Then there's the lack of interesting games, but that's an issue that solves itself with time.

I hadn't thought about the Kinect, actually. To me it's just a gimmicky thing that they include because they know most people don't really want to buy it separately. If there was a separate bundle without it, people wouldn't buy the one with it as much.

If they offered full backwards compatibility, I probably would have pre-ordered one. I've had my newest 360 console for a couple of years now and I still have a TON of games I still want to play. I just don't like the idea of missing out on new games because I'm reluctant to buy the 360 version if the XBO version is superior.

Reading this thread makes me realize that many have missed a big point of the Xbox One. It is not just a video game system even though it can be used as one, it is a universal device to control your entire living room and viewing experience. It is meant as the center piece of your home viewing environment.

You take away the kinect, you remove most of the functionality of the Xbox One as it was designed to use voice/motion. Removing the kinect will even limit some games as you can use voice/motion like in Ryse, Dead Rising and others. Removing the kinect also removes the multitasking, snap windows, voice and motion control and so much more.

I look forward to walking into my living room 11/22 and saying "Xbox On", "turn to channel XYZ", snap Internet Explorer so I can look something up when watchingTV, "play music", etc..... I want to scream and yell :) playing Ryse to control my army. None of which is doable without the Kinect.

If you just want a basic video game machine the 360 or even PS4 is fine.

While I am one of the few who embrace kinect functionality, let's not forget you can do everything you just listed using only the controller. The kinect is the designed Controller for the experience but there is still choice.

Sure, but I can't wait to say "Xbox On". ;)

I'll say, I'm not a BIG kinect fan. I felt a bit letdown after its lackluster showing on the 360. Great device, but lack of real games. With its inclusion on the XB1, I'm still a bit skeptical about how it will be fully utilized (aside from TV functionality) and if it will have more gaming support than its predecessor. However, it being included with the XB1 makes me happy. It is one less accessory I have to purchase separately and I am looking forward, like a lot of other people, to walking in my living room and saying "Xbox on", chatting with a friend while playing a game or watching a movie, using my hand to swipe the dashboard, etc... One last note... The previous version of kenect was 150.00 as an add-on peripheral. If this is an updated version of the device, technically the XB1 is MUCH LESS in price than a PS4.

Just my two-cents!

The only thing that could make me buy a next-gen console sooner is the PS4 having full backwards compability for PS3 games so I can finally play the PS3 exclusives I've missed out on.

There's nothing that would make me get the X1 anytime soon.

You would be surprised on how people will put up with something they dont like just to troll lol. I have seen it before lol.

Anyway....I don't want to buy a game console for things other than gaming. I could not care less about the TV features and all that stuff. If I want some integrated TV system, I'll buy Apple TV or something to that effect. If I buy an Xbox One, it's to play games either by myself or online (or with friends, either way), not to control the TV with my voice. I also have no interest in browsing the internet with my TV. If that's your thing, great; but I think it's the gaming companies losing sight of the important things and not the gamers.

I have posted this article before, its before they changed the policy, you should read it. Ill quote a spot for you:
http://gizmodo.com/you-don-t-hate-the-xbox-one-you-re-just-jealous-509604549

Gamers seem to hate the Xbox One. If you wade into a comments section or ask a man-on-the-street at your local Mountain Dew distributer, you’ll hear a variety of reasons why the Xbox One is not for gamers—why it’s a horrible misstep, presumed dead on arrival. Some of these criticisms will ring a little truer than others, but none really tap into what’s really eating at the gaming elite. They’re mad that they’re not the center of attention.

But hey, if all you want is a game machine, after Sony's massive Q & A, That is EXACTLY what you will get ;)
